Hi, before posting this question I checked all the old posts about the fridges on our boats! Apart from getting an understanding about how hard it is to service or worse still replace them I couldn't find anything specific about the installation on a 415.
Our fridge still works well but seems to be using more power than it used to, this could be because a gas loss or dirty heat exchanger? But I cannot find out how to access these. Has anyone had any experience with this? Night Train is now 8 years old and I guess there is a lot of dirt and fluff that could be cleaned out. As always any hints, suggestions etc would be gratefully received Stay safe Paul |

Hi,
Not an expert but just started to investigate mine. h445 2013, most likely has same installation as your h415. In h445, compressor is accessed by removing rear panel of cupboard below galley stove. Just four screws but access is not great. We found Hanse had installed ~100mm flexible duct to compressor cooling fan but other end was taped to compressor chassis and not through circular holes cut into cabinetry. Obviously an assembly oversight; fan practically did nothing! Found a description stating "Isotherm 135-litre marine galley refrigerator incorporating Isotherm Compact Classic 2309 refrigeration system". From looking at online Isotherm pictures of 2309 system, I'm sure this is the system we have. Compressor is Danfoss-Sepco BF35F with 101N0210 control unit. This seems to be a very common compressor in 12V fridges. Refrigerant is R134a. The 2309 system is quoted as containing 68g of R134a but that would depend on pipe length so not sure how accurate that figure is. If eight years old, possible the gas has simply leached away and needs recharging. This should be a straightforward job for a fridge-mech with can of R134a and some fill gauges. Our fridge draws ~7A on start up slowly ramping down to ~5A after a minute or so. That is all the information I've been able to collect. Hope something there is useful. Cheers. Hi,As you have looked into this a little I wondered if you (or anyone) knows if the insulation covered nuts in the (upside down) RH pic are the “quick” connectors shown (yellow arrows) in the LH pic? I want to modify/ replace my evaporator box and it would be far easier if it has the self sealing couplings. As an aside I was assuming the red arrowed nipple might be the recharging point?NB my vent duct is also taped compressed with masking tape… ![]()

Hi, Ian and Andria I am sorry to say I totally missed your long and helpful reply from nearly a year ago. Really don’t understand why that happened!
But belated thanks Paul
