Hi I have recently bought a 130% Genoa from Quantum and have installed adjustable sheet leads on a track that was previously installed. The issue is that there are no turning blocks mounted on the deck near the sheet winch only a block attached to the pushpit. This does not look to be a very strong solution.
Has anyone installed turning blocks on a 400 or come up with an alternative solution? Thanks for any assistance. Cheers Nick

Nick,
Earler 400's have standard footblocks mounted on deck near the winches. Lewmar Blocks at an angle, provided by molding in the deck. You can get the same effect by having shaped pieces of teak under the blocks. Peter |

Thanks Peter, I think thats what I will end up doing, am considering a german mainsheet as well so maybe I install double footblocks on a pad so I can lead the main sheet aft as well. Just need room for some jammers then.

Lewmar has footblooks with integrated jammer that are stackable. On my H400 from 2006 those are factory fitted (only one/side and without integrated jammer). On my boat there is already german sheeting and the footblocks are used for the main sheet. I'm have now ordered a max jib (110%) replacing the self-tacker and are in the process to add extra blocks. I also need a jammer on the main sheet to be alble to use the same winch for my code1/gennacker. I have 2 options.1) By 2 lemar footblocks with integarted jammer2) Add a standing block aft from the lewmar foot block + a normal jammer.

Try this, 2 x Harken ESP 57, or change to ESP 75 for Hanse 400 (higher breaking load)

This is exactly my option #1 but using Lewmar foot blooks with jammer for main sheet (already have on lewmar block and don't want to make new holes in the alu plate). I see on your picture that you have a standing block as well, is this for spinnacker/gennacker?

Thanks for all your responses, they are very useful.
The set up I would like to have (the vision )would have the Genoa sheet, one sheet from the german Main and the furling line for the genoa being led aft through a set of three jammers and then then back to the aft winch. In a similar way on the port side but with the tack line for the gennaker instead of the tack line. In this way the helmsman would be able to control the main and genoa easily, the tack line i guess could be led up on to the mast and through the coach roof in a similar fashion to all other mast control lines (reef etc) Does anyone think this is possible or is it too difficult/ not worth the effort? I have seen a number of the newer production boats leading more controls further aft, any experiences with this type of set up both positive or negative. On my 370 I have the footblocks replaced by Lewmar Ocean 80mm Ball Bearing blocks with Jammers. The blocks are ok but the jammers are eating the sheet.
I also have a 110% Jib on the coachroof so I try to find a way to stay on the coachroof with the Genoa sheet. For the furlingline I have a jammer near the aluminium footrail and than through a block to the whinch. That is the way to go, also for the mainsheet. BR Thomas
