Good day folks!
I'm having a minor issue with my engine control lever - specifically, it hits the side of the cockpit seat before it reaches cruising RPM. I've attached a photo of the lever, since I'm not 100% sure of what it is, but believe it to be a Teleflex c2100P. So, 2 questions - first, does anyone know how to remove the handle & cover to get at the actual controls? I've removed the set screw underneath the handle, but it won't come off. It's probably just stuck, but concerned about breaking the plastic cover if I try to hard to pry the handle off. Second, any thoughts on how to best correct the problem? I'm assuming I'll be able to make adjustments to the cable once I gain access to the controls, but that is pure speculation on my part since I have zero experience with such things. Thanks in advance for any insight/assistance! Kind regards, Edited by S/V Rocinante - 10 March 2019 at 18:25 |

I guess you by mistake pulled the soft handle outwards, just push it back downwards if in the idle position.
(With soft handle I refer to the thicker upper part of the handle.) Best Ralph

Hi Carlos
Has it been that way since you bought the boat and is the engine otherwise properly responsive to the throttle? Unless you get any more helpful replies in the meantime, I'll check on mine and reply when onboard later in the week. All the best |

Gee thanks Ralph, now I feel like a complete idiot! lol!
You were 100% correct! I cannot believe that was the problem! The handle had pulled up at some point; I just pushed it back down - problem solved! Thank you so much, it would never have occurred to me that it was something so simple! Thanks Ratbasher, greatly appreciate your offer to check on yours.
In response to your questions; no, it only started happening this past summer and yes, the engine was otherwise properly responsive to the throttle. But as RalphK so kindly pointed out, I had somehow managed to pull up on the handle, thereby extending it to the point that it started jamming against the side of the cockpit seat! Problem solved! |

I went thru this when I first purchased my boat. Simple but not obvious.
