Gents
Excellent feedback. I am thinking of going forward in stages.

Stage 1
Implement a German style sheeting system similar to the photos supplied by Stephen earlier in the post.
I am thinking of replacing the current single cheek block, which feeds the Genoa sheet to the winch, with a double cheek block of a large size. Due to the down rated load the top cheek block can take. Fit two additional cockpit winches.

Try sailing with the new set up.

Stage 2
Fit cockpit traveller - retaining the German style sheeting system.

Views / thought appreciated.

Regarding sails sizes, thanks for the info - I can feel a separate post on the sail selection once I get my hardware sort out!

NB - just had a weekend sailing boat day 1 4hr beat in 20-25 knot great fun. Day 2 5 hour sailing less beating in 5 - 15Knots - female members of the crew much happier on day 2!

Hallo,
I plan to change to German sheeting, Hanse 400, 2007, with traveller in cockpit, endboom sheeting from there to the gooseneck and then over deck to the original fitted port and starboard winches.
This also means that I need a new sheet. Who has experience with this set up and can give me a hint as to what the ideal sheetlenght should be?
Input appreciated
Wilko

if you search my posts you will see my setup on my 400 which is similar to what you describe. My continuous mainsheet is 20m in length.

Thanks, however if I am correct you do not have end-boomsheeting.
I copied the way you mounted the blocks to the stays.
Best regards,
Wilko

Correct so add 3m to the length 2 x 1.5 further back on the boom, the line cascading through my cabin top blocks is enough for the drop from end of the boom to traveller.

you need more extra line since the way from the boom end to the traveller is also longer!

I have the traveler in the cockpitt with the sheating also there. (no german sheating)
It works well both racing and touring.
(my credo is, wenn it works with racing , it will defenitely work with touring)
Most time during sailing we only work on the traveler to loose presure.
I will never do without it...
