Just completed upgrade from 2x 165Ah Victron AGM installed by Hanse to 600Ah of lithium batteries in our H445. As we could only every really use ~50% of the AGM capacity, this a x4 upgrade.

We built a new battery box of similar dimensions to the old box sized for the largest batteries we could reasonable fit within the space available ...

The cells are 200Ah Winston LiFePo4 lithium batteries x12; 3 in parallel x 4 cells in series or 3p4s in lithium battery speak. The control and protection can be quite complicated for such a set-up to avoid over-charging or over-discharging; either of which can damage the cells.

This is the final view ... we're hoping this gives all the blue-water cruising power we need :-)

It's been a long challenging project but demonstrates what's possible if really determined!

Cheers all.

600Ah Lithium?   I don't know what your power requirements are, but that should be keep you going for a while even without any engine or sun!   What did you use as BMS?

Hi Spam,

We used REC-BMS (Victron version) with Victron switches; 2x BP-220, 1x BP-100 and replaced Hanse's WhisperPower battery combiner with Cyrix-Li. A Raspberry-Pi mini computer running Victron's GX firmware monitors the system and sends measurement data over the internet to Victron's VRM server which we can monitor from home. That's all going to sound like an advertisement from Victron; we stuck with Victron products purely because of this easy GX integration and remote monitoring. Will be less important when we finally start blue-water cruising but for now and especially over this winter, we can keep an eye on the system from home.

Cheers.
