Order placed from the UK on the 31 Dec. No goods arrived yet, even though payment was taken on my card that day. I found an email address for hanseboatoon today and sent them an email. Is this normal? Or just because it’s the Christmas holiday? Or Brexit?

Anyone used them?

I have used boatoon a number of times.
1) Fenders at a very reasonable price
2) Teak fender list, quite expensive, but they cut off the 2 meters I needed
3) Fenders a second time
A delay in transport is not uncommon.
It seems that it is a good idea to find the item you want, and then search for a better price elsewhere, because some items are priced very high. Some spare parts for Hanse can not be found anywhere else, so there you must pay and look happy. H8jer bought a waste tank from boatoon some months ago, and it was an okay price.
If you are looking for a special Hanse-part, do not just search for parts to e.g. the H370. A lot of the spare parts are placed in faulty places. Instead of searching for parts for the Hanse model, search for the item you want, rudder/keel/fender/waste tank, and there will be a list af the boats this spare part can be used for.

I too have used Boatoon on many occasions over the last few years and have had excellent service from them including advice on my purchases.

I used them also several times for typical Hanse parts and if not on their website, you sent a picture and they respond in a fast way and make the product available on their site. So good experience with them :)
Best regards

Thanks - They must have been reading the forum because I got an email this morning with the tracking details ;-)

Agree with all the comments here. On some parts they seem very competitive (almost like they pass on their bulk discounts to us customers) on other things not so much

It did make me laugh that I can in fact buy a complete replacement deck for my Hanse 418! If I need a new deck I think I have BIG problems ;-)

But very comprehensive list of parts :-)

Matt - the whole European postal system from the UK to Cyprus seems stuffed at the moment.  I live in the latter and, no matter whether by post or courier, some items take months regardless of what the tracking details say.  In contrast, other items from the same vendor get through quickly.  Three times Amazon.de have declared my package lost, offering me a refund only for them to arrive perhaps that same day.  Family/friends in Italy, Germany and the Netherlands are saying the same thing for anything crossing national borders - so it's not Brexit's fault! Unsurprisingly, the virus gets the blame whenever you call.

Oh to have the money to order a replacement deck, just for the fun of it - and then to refuse delivery asking what they've done with the rest of the boat.

When I last ordered from Boatoon it was as follows

14/4 Placed the order and paid with paypal.
20/4 wrote a mail to hanse(at)boatoon.com: asking for status
21/4 reply from boatoon with DPD Tracking no. and Invoice
22/4 Delivery (Germany to Denmark...)

Btw. I would like to order a spare bolt for the bow-sprit:
And we have also lost our Suction Cup but can not find it in the Boatoon shop?

Update:
Found the a similar Suction Cup at a German company:
It costs 8 euro and 15 euro shipping in EU.

Just a warning to potential UK purchasers in the post Brexit world! I've tracked my parcel, it had been collected from Boatoon but sat in UPS's offices for 4 days waiting for me to pay £46.74 to the UK Govt - (presumably UK VAT in addition to German VAT) and a broker fee of £11.50
I didn't get any notification or request to pay this (I just came across it in the tracking portal) so not sure when they would have requested payment

25% additional cost on £245 parts :((

Frustrating, but not Boatoon's fault

Actually, I think it may be Boatoon's fault. Since UK is now outside the EU they shouldn't have charged you German VAT. My experience (from another outsider country, Norway) is that I don't get charged for VAT in the EU, but I have to pay Norwegian VAT at arrival home. Of course you may have been particularly unlucky if Boatoon charged German VAT while UK still was inside, then you got the parcel after final Brexit date and had to pay UK VAT, too.

Thanks Gunnar! In that case, it looks like it's my fault, as I ordered the items at the end of December, before the UK left the EU! But they are delivered after we left the EU. Damn!
