So what happens if you get a leak? ie engine intake, fresh water tank, heads hose, leak through from the anchor locker in rough water ( members have all indicated those items a few times over the past few years) Lots of options. Then a quite small amount of water slopping about when the boat heals can - I assume- get the item wet. Is that not a possibility with relatively shallow bilges

Hi Samuel,
Thanks your comment, but honestly I dont understand where your comming from. The transducers are rate as IP68 meaning they will withstand 1.5m of submersion in water for 30 mins. If I had 1.5m of water (ussuming still water, never mind where it came from) in the boat above the transducers I think the last thing on my mind would be "Ohh s..t maybe my antifouling system has stopped working". I will have lost more viltal syetems like VHF, steering, nav systems, nav lights, my whole switch board would be underwater as with my engine. In a realistic situation the water would be sloppyng around as she heeled over. Not only that but I doubt that the air draft on the 385 is, or is, much more than 1.5mt....................However, after taking to the liferaft and seeing her turn over I will take the oportunity to inspect the the hull and saildrive for the efficency of the antifouling system, and report back. Ian

Apologies , I misunderstood & in a brain fade moment I was thinking of another thread.( actually it was not even this forum) I did not think of antifouling transducers.
