Hi everyone,
Next step on my 320 adventure - flying the kite! I’ve got plenty of experience with traditional symmetrical spinnakers but will confess I’m looking forward to the apparent simplicity of the asymmetric kite I’ve now got.

My only question is on rigging. Halyard is obvious and presumably a couple of blocks attached to either the pushpit or aft cleats will nicely lead the sheets to the main winches.

What about the tack line though? Does anyone have any top tips (or even better - photos) on how best to run the line, fixings at the bow, control etc (without a bowsprit I should add)?

Thanks!
Steve

Ideal - thanks! Since I’m sailing with a Genoa instead of a self-tacking jib my jib sheet was redundant anyway so this looks like a brilliant solution.

Might see if I can give it a try this weekend…

Hi
I am a new 320 owner,
( I dont actually get the keys until next week)

BUT the last owner left a gennaker in the boat, unused.
The boat is equipped with the bowsprit.

The Elan where I am crew, have the gennaker on furler, with the lines led aft to the cockpit.

Is it possible to replace the snuffer lines for a longer line running aft to the cockpit to avoid going to the foredeck?

I will be singlehanded mostly...

In my experience on a 385, a snuffer can be troublesome, even when you are on the foredeck.  I wouldn't try to extend the lines to raise/douse the snuffer.
The problem is that these lines can get twisted around the sail, especially when switching from one gybe to another.  The problem may be less if your lines have a separate sleeve to run in, but this still needs to be kept straight.
I suggest getting used to what you have and then assessing how to improve.

I now have an asymmetric on a furler which can genuinely be deployed and furled from the cockpit (assuming the hoist is done at the dock).

Thanks for the advice.I will undobtedly  experiment come spring.

As I have never used a snuffer, I got one more silly question;

Where do one secure the snuffer lines after hoisting the snuffer up?

I imagine it cannot be left loose...

Hi,
I have the Gennaker on a furler  now and I must say it is easey tu use this sail now.
You can get everything prepared before sailing and the only thing you have is thoughgoing line in the cockpit. So I am using it more than before. The Spinnaker has a snuffer and we never used it since....

If you keep the snuffer, you should attach the snuffer line to a padeye or other point on the deck to avoid losing them!
Mine had a short loop of elastic with a clip for this purpose.
