Has anyone seen this? Radio is unable to turn on. Screen simply flashes on and off. No text. I believe the MFD was attempting to update software to the radio. I can't find anything online. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Any update on this? I’m wondering why you thought this might have coincided with an update. I’m embarrassed to say that I am not sure how these updates are done and if there is any way of tracking them.

I have heard of software updates failing when performed wirelessly.  Maybe download the update to an SD card and try installing manually?
Does the device still show on the N2K network?

Thank you for your message. While I powered up instruments and began rigging for a sail, I saw that some of the electronics (including the VHF) were downloading updates. I asked the guys in the yacht yard to take a look but no update yet. I will try to get to the boat later today and see if it’s fixed. Hopeful. I took the opportunity to purchase a “backup” portable handheld radio in the meantime.

We’ll now we’ve reached beyond my knowledge of the system. I’m not sure how that’s done but sounds like I need to dive into the manual. Great feedback and thank you again. Any additional thoughts are most appreciated.

S&J was spot on. I downloaded to a microSD card and pushed the update to the VHF through the MFD. Thank you very much.
