B&G might be famous for their products but not for their support. Several times it was reported that SW-update were not free of mistakes and caused whole nav systems to break down.
Now my system asks for a SW update for one of our Zeus 3 plotters.I don't know if I can trust it. Is there an expert who can tell me if this one is safe? And how a bout a rollback if it fails? Is that possible?
Thanks for your help. Below the current system version.

Hi tobo

I have a B&G Zeus3 7". I have installed all updated and my device says version 22.2 application 66.1.9.
This version has not given me any trouble.
Compare to older updates, this has a better way of displaying AIS tagets and I also got a windarrow added to AWA wind reading.
I use C-Map and put a cover above the plotter when this is in direct sun. Otherwise I think it will get to hot and behaps enter thermal throttling.
Others Who use radaroverlays have reporter that the device can stall. Now B&G offers a "S" model with more cpu.
So if you don't use radar, I don't see any reason not to update.

My personal opinion:
We installed a 12" Zeus 3 around 2017. It has been great. For the first two years I installed the updates, but now I ignore the updates. The reason: as it gets older I am worried it will no longer be compatible with my radar or autopilot or something else if I install an update. B&G can't anticipate every incompatibility, and right now everything works together really well. So my philosophy has been to install updates for the first few years but then be happy that everything works. Nothing more frustrating than installing an update and then spending hours with tech support to get everything working again!
