I am also considering genoa tracks on my H415. The position is relatively clear to me because of the markings in the anti-skid. I also know there are aluminum backing plates. However what is less clear to me is how this works with the halyard/sheet covers.
The right position for the tracks seems to be ON TOP of the halyard/sheet covers, in front of where the sheets/halyards turn to the mast. Given the sheet/halyard cover is just attached to the deck with a few small screws (and a lot of sikaflex from what I understand), how does the yard mount the tracks? I am pretty sure the aluminum backing are actually not in the cover but in the deck underneath. When Hanse installs the tracks, do they just drill thru the covers, thru the deck, into the backing plates? In other words, if the covers would need to come off, you actually need to remove the tracks again since the bolts run through them? Is there a space in between the covers and the deck in that section? Should I plan on installing a space to fill up that space? Would love to understand how Hanse does this ex-factory

Hi Harold, the tracks run from just behind the outboard end of self tacker traveller to just short of the rope covers as per the diagram in the hull reinforcement drawing.
Remember this is only for a 105% Genoa as anything bigger will hit the spreaders. All the best Paul

Hi Paul, maybe I am not understanding but my understanding of where the genoa tracks go is in the position marked in yellow. However, the ENTIRE area marked in red is actually a separate cover. The halyard and the sheets run underneath it. As far as I can tell it is bolted down onto the deck. Although the sheets/halyards indeed turn to the mast before the mounting point of the track, the cover is on continues also one piece of GRP all the way till the selftacker track. Doesn't this mean that the track is ON TOP of this cover? I am pretty certain the Al plates are in the deck underneath this cover, no? Does hanse just bolt thru this cover into the deck below?

Apologies for confusing the issue, when I replied to you earlier I had incorrectly thought that the rope covers stopped at an angle just beyond where the ropes come out of the mast. I was on the boat yesterday and realised my mistake! Below is a photo of the boat with the starboard rope cover removed, as you can see the coach roof moulding rises up in front of the ropes. Judging from the amount of dirt on the deck I think the cover sits directly on the deck in this area. I can also confirm that there are no backing plates within the cover itself and as you suggested the cover and its fixings wouldn't be strong enough to take the loads from the track. In short I believe that the backing plate is in the coach roof itself and that you wouldn't need spacers between the cover and the coach roof, but maybe some slim rubber washers would be good to keep them slightly apart.
