Hi Peter - I think that only an engineer experienced with these things could give you a definitive answer.  Given that you've already bought the item, the only suggestion I could make is to fit it, see how it runs and then to put your mind at ease (or not!) take it off and check it at the end of the season.  I wouldn't have thought it at all likely it would fail that quickly but you'll be able to see for yourself and measure the rate of any internal corrosion.

Not sure how much you paid but mine, 4 seasons ago, was £820 for a 'genuine' part if that's any comparison.
