Thursday our Hanse 355 was delivered at West Yachting. What a nice ship, saturday barely wind but she performed very well, average wind about 4-5 knots SE, course 180 degrees, boatspeed app. 3 knots and more!

Congratulations Fu Shan and welcome to the Forum. This week looks like good weather for getting to know your new boat.

This sounds like a typical downwind boat speed. I have a 370 and get similar performance on this point of sail. Unfortunately I could not get the same performance on a close haul or reach with the standard self tacking JIB (assuming this is what you were delivered). In light winds such as this, I added a 140% Genoa and significently improved my light wind performance. Maybe an option for your next boat upgrade.

A gennaker is ofcourse an useful option, but I need some more experience also in heavier conditions. I think that I will decide to purchase a gennaker next year. I'll keep you informed about my sailingadventures!

Welcome Fu Shan! So you say you already have open water in the Netherlands?! I feel pure envy at the moment! We have still a month or so before we can even start to think to put the boat in the water
