Dear All, I just ordered new H 325 and made pre - payment. Needless to say I am very excited. Delivery time: April 2014. My dealer says that I still have some opportunity to make some changes in equipment. I consider purchasing FCL triradial cut performance sails. Do you have any experience with this kind of sails? Thanks for answer in advance. |

Yes we have them on our 385.
They are a little stiffer than my performance dacron on the old boat, but they set very well and look lovely. Some people have difficluty getting them into the boom bag, but mine was OK, perhaps to check with the dealer if you are going to upgrade. I think its worth it, or even go for the next ones up again, I have a DEN 6 elvestrom 105 genoa which is super fantastic, and not much more than the FCL. If you race a lot ask about them too.
If you get the FCL make sure you get the track cars as well, with us it came with the performance pack, raising and lowering the sail is easy and reefing is good even when the sail has some power in it.

I have them on my Hanse 345 with the batten cars, one of the best choices I have made. Super fast, high angle close wind and come down like a flash. Also good profile with reef 1 ( reef 2 I have not yet used ). As Mark pointed out the absolutely a bigger lazy bag, something the yard is not willing to provide. After my experiences with the inferior quality of factory supplied canvas I would order anything from dodger, bimini lazybag locally. You save yourself a lot of trouble getting things fixed quickly. The chain you-your dealer- hanse yard - supplier is way too long.

Hello,
I would go for the better sails, good value for the money. Boat will be faster but most significant improvement is regarding weather helm. Std sail, especially jib is not optimal resulting all sorts of issues starting from moderate winds. Std mainsail is better but when reefing one has to make sure sail shape becomes flat - not always easy but that may be due single line reefs with lot of friction as well as not the best cloth available. - Perttu - Perttu |

We started off with the Standard North Sails.
Now we changed to an Elvstrøm Epex Selftacking Jib. The difference can be measured in a better upwind performance and less healing. Jan
