Hello, I skipper a Hanse 630 that is 1 year old. We have a "Quick" retractable bow thruster that gives us a lot of technical grief and problems. Does anybody else with a similar bow thrust have the same experience? It get's stuck in the "Down" position and all lights at the control panel start flashing while the system refuse to respond. It was already changed completely when the boat was only 6 months old, and after 8 months of proper operation the new and improved unit is at it again. Any ideas?

We don't have the "quick" bowthruster but I think all of them work on the same principle. Ours also develops this bad habit over time. It is caused by differential rising and lowering of the two screws left and right of the main unit. There is a simple cure: there are two hand nuts used to synchronize the screws. While one is in the crew cabin adjusting the nuts another crew is lifting and lowering the bowthruster until it is working perfectly. This has to be done at regular intervals BEFORE IT BLOCKS. If it blocks don't press the lifting lowering button or joystick for a long time because you risk burning the control motors. After 5 years our unit finally burned the control circuit and we replaced all the electronics with low tech simple relay contactors. No more problems.

Where in Turkey are you? Tomorrow I will be in Marmaris!

Hello Panos
I am in Gocek, not too far from Marmaris. Thanks for the reply but I think this unit I have is different in the small details then the one you have and although probably works with the same principal all those nuts and screws are not the same here...So thanks again and maybe we meet in the area soon.
