When ordering our 300 new in 2003, the need to draw a line on the expenditure somewhere meant that we did not include a mainsheet traveller in the spec. This is clearly necessary, despite having enjoyed the absence of multiple bruises to our shins!
Do any of you that have travellers fitted have any thoughts on what systems are most suitable for the 300/301/292 etc? also did you fit these yourselves? all contributions appreciated Graham |

Hi Graham, It was great to see you down here in Falmouth, sorry we didn't get time to go out for a sail but maybe in the future. As you know Morgelyn has a traveller fitted and all I can say is it really does seem to make quite a difference to speed and handling. Ours was fitted from new so can't really help I am afraid as to WHERE to get one but the bottom line is DO! Keep well PS: May be up your way end October! |

Thanks David, it was great to be able to put names and faces together - I guess its always that warm in Cornwall?
I remember that you had a traveller fitted, but cant remember the design/details. I had a traveller in my last boat; an elderly Westerly Tiger. It was very useful and helped sail handling and shape considerably, however, it was very difficult to adjust under load and would often slip when tacking. I dont want to go there again... Let us know if you are in our area - you are welcome to drop in; the boat is being lifted out at the end of October. regards Graham |
