Picture to the left is showing Hanse original block (45 mm sheaves, Sparcraft SC45) and the new Rutgerson block (with 60 mm sheaves which happend to be the size Sparcraft recommend in their web documentation for mast profile I330, number SC58). The picture on the left side indicate the difference in size and I hope that the upgrade will reduce the load on halyards and sheets.
7 blocks has now been changed and I got one extra for future use.

On a 342 with 12 mm diameter of the mast collar pin does these blocks fit perfectly (fork width on the block match the collar pin), if using Lewmar rebuilded block I would have a gap between the fork on the block and the mast collar pin.

Hi Johan

Last year did I buy from Rutgerson web shop and got delivery to my home address.
This year I can't find that web shop.

Watski, Hjertmans and Benns are retailers in Sweden so with the order number at hand you should be able to order. If you have questions Rutgerson have been very service minded both via email and by telephone.

Cheers,
Skipper

Skipper,

as far as I can see that is not a Sparcraft rig but a Z-spar rig. Or?

Nevertheless, nice switch..!

In the posts of this thread have I mention that we have a SPARCRAFT mast a number of times but the key regardless of brand is the technical design (mast collar pins) which differs a lot compared with Selden rigs.

We are very pleased with the result of changing to larger Rutgersonblocks and by adding Rutgerson battcars to the main sail.

2003-05-05 The Rutgerson battcars has been replaced with stronger options from Rutgersons

Hi Marco

I checked out the new Wichard "items" (they are not really blocks are they?). They are very interesting, but I simply can't figure out how they work. How do they overcome the friction???? Can you explain that???

Anyway, they could be just kind of gadget I need for refitting my jib sheetingThumbs Up

Coming back to this old thread.

As i wrote in early days, my Lewmar blocks broke and were changed to Harken blocks.

After 4 years of use these Harken 6095 blocks still work well.
But - The 6mm Pins are bent dangerous! (Only on main and jib halyard and jib sheet!)
Now i am searching for replacement of these 6mm pins.

Maybe that happended because these Harken blocks are made for Clevis pins with a diamter of 14mm. On a 370 these are only 12mm. This small extension will result in a bending moment. Sadly Harken does not support 12mm clevis pins in the fork.
Maybe i need to change again to another product. Rutgerson seems to be the part. higher SWL and made for 12mm Clevis pins

Make sure that you check your pins exactly after some years of use!

Hi Peter

2 friends of mine have changed to blocks make Garhauer (Hanse 312 & 342) and are after some years still satisfied with the performance.

Maybe something for you and your boat as well?
Regards

Peter

I don't understand staying with 12mm Pins. I took of the mastbase, drilled 15mm holes and took 14mm pins with 8mm pins: Done! 75mm Harken blocks - just perfect.

No problems anymore and not a too big job.
