Moving North - after sharing my time between my favourite berth in Douglas, Isle of Man, and my swing mooring in Barmouth, Wales.
I have now sold my mooring in Barmouth and DD, is on the move.
We have got a pontoon berth in Stranraer, Scotland.
At the moment DD is out of the water at Pwllheli, Wales but she will be in the water by the end of the month. DD will work her way North via Douglas to her berth at Stranraer.
We will be split between our berth at Douglas, Isle of Man, and Douglas, Scotland.
I have also joined a free sailing club called "Sailing and Cruising Scotland" on face book and website.
Not only is it free but all their events are free as well. The first one, a regatta is on the 3/4 June at Tarbert, On the Mull of Kintyre, Scotland.
Check out the Facebook and website, it's all free, so cost you nothing.
So looking forward to moving North.

Interesting to know of such events, some of which could be good to join in with and others to avoid.

We also look at the full event calendar on the CYCA website to see where some groups are

http://www.cyca-online.org.uk/

Interestingly, on the 3rd of June it is Toward Regatta, the start of the Tarbert Flotilla and the Fairlie Yacht Club race from Largs to Bannantyne.  Sounds like the Captain of the Rothesay Ferry will have fun.

A long way to drive for a weekend sail .
It takes me 4 minutes to my marina by car or 24 minutes on the bicycle if I feel fit !!!!!

Thanks for the Cruising Scottish waters link.
We [Perry and Simonne] are starting our round GB adventure in a few weeks ['Bloto' 301 fin keel] Cowes to Cowes.
We will look out for you if we visit Stranraer [its in the passage plans?],
Tarbert Regatta would be good too.

Samuel,
Lucky bugger, I don't think I could live further from the sea than I do at the moment. BUT it is 4 1/2 hours to Pwllheli from where I live and only 6 hours to Stranraer. So it's not so bad really, but not as good as yours. 😂
Perry, sounds a mamouth trip... when your going towards Douglas, give us a shout...

Perry

Also look at

http://www.visitmyharbour.com/

Which has some useful passage plans on it.

For Scotland and Northern Ireland, this years Welcome Anchorages is now available on line.

http://www.welcome-anchorages.co.uk/view-publication/

Once you get up north, you can pick up a hard copy from chandlers and marinas.  (Yep, the Scots are giving something away for free!)

If you want some interesting anchorages, the you need Antares charts.

http://www.antarescharts.co.uk/

Hopefully we are back in the water at Largs next week.
