We have on our new Hanse 350 a plotter (NX40) outside.  Has anyone a suggestion what we need inside the boot. I thought maybe a FURUNO 32.

I have a nx40 outside too.
I do not need anything more inside!

Only if everything stops working, only for this case, i do have an additional small very cheap handheld gps. thats all.

Siler, we have our Standard Horizon Plotter outside at starboard, have a laptop inside linked to Simnet/NMEA0183 but we never use it.
As we most of the time are not standing behind the (larger than standard)wheel, we are very happy with this configuration. Besides this, most Plotter manuals advice not to mount the plotter within 60 cm of the compass.

@coriolis2: What kind of software do you use to extract the info to your PC and how does the cable look like?

Marco, see diagram little simple but effective(in Dutch..)
On the laptop I use SeaMe, worked fine on our old boat as I could see the laptop screen from the cockpit.
Sweet memories of our own built Waarschip..

Install apdf printer, than it is very easy to print it. There are several for free on the web.
try this one:
