Jon,
I fitted the extra sensors just as you described. Just yesterday they did the exact job I added them for (on Gordon's advice) and allowed me to unblock the tank thru the access panel. David |

Jon,
I am pretty certain that the positions are as per your email, but will check when next on the boat. Installation was plug and play, no firmware changes required. Are yours working at all, or working and not accurate? I have never done a detailed check on accuracy but am happy in that the lights sequence as expected. Funny thing is that the holding tank has not blocked since we fitted the sensors, so maybe a double win!

David and Gordon,
Thanks for the replies and good to know should work as plug and play from Gobius! I fitted and they calibrated perfectly with single blue light but after heads used also show fast flashing lights on two new sensors which according to manual is a sensor error. I have mailed Gobius in Sweden to get their advice so hopefully they can assist. To unblock a holding tank I got some great advice from this forum, if your close to a pump out station use this and cover the holding tank vent hole with some gaffer tape, then pump out and blockage is sucked out. I tried it and worked brilliantly! (Just need to station a crew by tank to ensure the suction does not implode tank as a precaution). Cheers, Jon.

So my experience dealing with the blocked holding tank is
thus. On all occasions the blockage has been at hull outlet valve. Guests and
too much toilet paper |

We just had our first holding tank blockage. We are On the way to the Whitsundays and a few days from a town so after trying to poke down thru the access panel didn't work I was considering a swim when I thought of trying something else. I blocked the vent with duct tape and choose up the access tight and pumped. It cleared within a few pumps. I actually had to take the tape off to let it empty. Might woth for others but I'll definitely try this in future.

Hi, I agree totally with Ranu, the two blockages we have had are with guests flushing toilet paper, rather than using the handily provided bin! On the first occasion I stupidly thought that i could blow out the blockage with the dinghy pump inserted in the deck outlet, to everyone else's amusement I can confirm this is no longer my method of choice!
Second time I found that you can reach the thru hull outlet from a dinghy and managed to clear the blockage easily with a long screwdriver, stay up current and it is a far more hygienic solution than the dinghy pump and no need to swim. One barnacle in the outlet and a guest using toilet paper is all it takes! All the best Paul

Hi all,
I posted on this thread that I had an issue with adding extra sensors to the Gobius holding tank monitor. To close the loop pleased to report reseated the new 1/4 sensor with new double sided 3M then recalibrated and all works fine. Good to see the traffic lights work correctly when filling and emptying, very reassuring! Cheers, Jon.

Today we have had our first holding tank blockage in a bit under two years, however the good run ended today with a blockage that I did not notice until the level was over the inspection hatch, which makes it very difficult to empty the tank to de-block.
After the last episode I made up a manual bilge pump and hoses to empty the tank over the side via the pump out port. Worked a treat. Tomorrow I will need to get in there with my unblocking stick, so I am not looking forward to that! Gordon

Hi S&J. We will be picking up our 418 from Greifswald next season and sailing it back to Norway (eventually). I would be very interested in any advice/suggestions for interesting locations in the Sweden and Denmark for the trip home. We are open to the southern part of the Baltic as well.
Thanks in advance.

hi. Don't mean to cut into discussion. I'm looking at a 418 3 cabin 2 head but the new design doesn't leave room for a generator or water maker like the older 415.
My dealer suggests the 2 cabin layout and use the utility area instead -!or upgrade to 458! I plan to do a lot of single handed trips and feel the 458 would be too big. Any suggestions? Thanks
