We have placed our order for Hanse 495 yesterday in Turkey. The boat will be delivered by the end of April. I' am familar with the most extras of the boat. If you should have any questions, I can try to give an answer. Turk1881

Dear Turk 1881
I am seriously considering buying the 495, in fact am awaiting a quotation from the dealer. Can anyone out there share with me information on Hanse's track record with new boats? (for eg, I have a rule never to buy a new car model, preferring to wait until the manufacturers have worked out all the bugs) In the case of Hanse, does anyone have experience with Hanses just "off the press" as it were? Cheers John |

Dear John,
I will be at the Duesseldorf-boat show in January 2011 to see the new Hanse 495 for the very first time. As the boat is so new, nobody could have any experience yet. But I have visited the new 445 two weeks ago, which is very familiar with the 495 and I liked the boat in every detail. Hanse 495 will be new, but many details are same as by 445 and even by 545. So you better have a look at the forums for those both boats and can have an idea, what to expect from 495.
Regards,
Mehmet Asal

Great, thanks Mehmet. In fact, I'm now also planning to visit Dusseldorf Boat show, and hope the crowd won't be too big to check out the new entry by Hanse.

Make sure you visit the show on a working day like monday. Than it is not as crowded as on a weekend!
BTW. There are no more so many people like 10 years ago. (I visit this show since 1979 every year!) |

Not only it is no more but the 495 dosn't have the steel structure wich I consider a must for rigidity. Self tacking means higher mast to compansate. I think that the boat will become a banana. My 2010 470 is rigid and very fast. BUT I visited the 495 in Paris and it is somewhat dame nice... with a sail locker BUT a lost of storage beneith the cockpit. Who ever design that part must of been drunk or only sails in his living room.
