New rudder for Hanse 325 2011 model.
Hi!
Im looking for a new rudder for a Hanse 325 2011 model.
There are 4 drawings on Jefa's website. 2 short rudders and 2 slightly longer rudders.
Jefa could not answer which rudder I needed but asked me to take measures of the rudder I have. Made measures today and did not get much wiser from it. The measures did not match any of the drawings on Jefas home page, spareparts Hanse 325.I wonder if anyone here has changed rudder before me 😊?

https://hanse.boatoon.com/de/shop/category/4/Ersatzteile/33/Steuerung Ask boatoon by phone or mail, surely they know. I believe, that the short rudders are for short keels.

Hi there,
I had to replace my rudder on my 311 a while back because of heavy corrosion on the rudder post. A Hanse agent ordered one for me from Jefa, but what actually arrived was much too long, a good 6 inches deeper than the keel! Everyone assured me that it was correct, but obviously it was not - the rudder would be wrecked the first time she needed to dry out. In the absence of any sensible advice, the local GRP jobber cut the bottom 200cm of the new rudder off, leaving it the same size as the original, scraped out a couple of inches of internal foam and filled and glassed the exposed wound. That was in early 2006 and she's still going strong with absolutely no loss of contol. I never found out why there should this confusion; mine is not a shallow keel (1.8+ m draft) but if you solve it I would be very pleased to know the answer. Regards Fiddler

I have asked main supplier of Hanse yachts in Norway and Boatoon spare parts shop for Hanse. They both said that it's the longest rudder of 1620m m that i need. I also had a dialog with and hanse 325 entusiast. He said he would like his original rudder to be approx 30cm longer than the original rudder because of broaching.
After all this info I have decided to order the longer rudder at Jefa's homepage. Fingre crossed that it will fit

When i ordered the standard 1620 deep rudder for my 311 I had to order it in a rush as i was not in my home port. I had, therefore, to take what was available at short notice. The profile of the top does not match the hull. Jefra can alter this during construction if you take the dimensions from your old one. If it is not too late you may consider this worthwhile. You can just see the gap in this photo. It is larger than it looks because the rudder is turned towards the camera. ![]() Edited by samuel - 09 September 2020 at 09:27 |

hi Samuel!
Thanks for sharing. What year did you order this rudder? Find it strange that drawings made for this boat doesn't fit and can't be trusted. Do you know if the 311 hull is the same as 325?

Hi You raise 2 points here 1) My rudder was fitted August 2014 so perhaps design has changed but it was made from a standard mould. My original Polish one broke on my round UK trip so I just took the standard to get going again. At the time Jefa was very busy & the chap I was dealing with was extremely difficult to contact. 2) The rudder is not actually made for a Hanse, but was a standard Jefa design. Unless things have changed ( There are detailed drawings on their website) you will find that it is made for any boat that it fits. At the time I believe they were taking over supply to Hanse from other companies, so may have altered the moulds. I just made the observation so that you could check. Another 311 owner did come to my marina 3-4 years ago (forget his name) & took dimensions so that he could have his new one made correctly ( His was in the med & damaged whilst stern too in a storm) If I can find the pictures we took showing rulers against the hull I will post them. ( But do not hold your breath!!). It was him that told me that Jefa would alter the top angle in the mould

I have replaced my rudder on my hanse325 2011 model this was due to galvanic corrosion due to earth lead connected to rudder. I ordered a new rudder from the factory as it was cheaper than the buying directly from Jeffa, i had several discussions with the factory as to which rudder was best suited they came back with several choices - if you do not have a key way at the top of your current shaft then you want the TRU150 if you have a keyway in the shaft then you need th TRU170 The shaft cost circa 2100 euros shipped to the UK.
