Make sure you are sitting down or have a soft place to fall when you get the quote. I agree that North has a spectacular reputation but in my experience their sails come in at about 20-30% more than Evolution Doyle, Quantum.

As well,   be very clear with the sailmaker about expectations on finish work.  For example, reinforcements on the batten pockets,  chafe patches or if you want things like elkhide in various spots.  Most will save a lot of money there if you don't say what you want.

I have a 3di main sail and 105% genoa. I can tell that the performance is great, much better than dacron. The boat points better, speed increased, etc. By the other hand, it requires much more care in the day by day use.
1. Never leave unprotected under the sun when not using
2. Don't let the sail swing too much when raising and putting down
3. Dont let the sail swing when under engine.

North 3Di Sails are great, but, I'm affraid you'll be dissappointed by the price. They are expensive. For my 320, a set costs 10k. But, if you can afford them, they are definitely worth it! Durable & fast!

For cruising, North 3di Nordac is the way to go.  Look great, set perfectly once you learn how, powerful but forgiving.  Best $15k you'll spend for improved performance.  Put them on my last boat.  New 418 almost here with Elvstrom laminates.  Hope I won’t be too disappointed.

Hi Muriel, I don’t think you will be disappointed in their performance. It is just how long they will last, ours performed well right up until they fell apart! We used our new Hydranet main for a Regatta last week and it performed well in both light and heavy airs 2-25 knots. The Hydranet jib will arrive next week so will report back once we have them both. But first impressions are good
All the best
