Thanks eveybody. I did have offers with fibercon, and it's marginally less expensive...but when you look into the offers, it's true that the weight of the sail (let's talk in g/m2 for example) is also lower: to give a scale 10% less price = 20% less weight.

We may argue that the dyneema component makes all these sails extremely durable and strong, and they would all be equally fit for the purpose. But if that's not the case, it is a difficult choice essentially based on "brand".

I have 5 offers on dyneema based sales  that i can present anonymised, prices without IVA (TVA): the three columns are main sail, jib and the sum of the two.

max hydra  €       21,150  €       19,318  €       38,636
min hydra  €       12,386  €       10,198  €       22,584
median hydra  €       19,318  €       13,820  €       33,600
avg hydra  €       17,230  €       13,897  €       31,127

the minimum prices are for the lightest material (hydranet 380 and fibercon 9.65).
If i remove that highest and the lowest offer, the three remaining ones are:

cmax hydra  €       21,150  €       14,960  €       36,110
cmin hydra  €       13,518  €       11,188  €       24,706
cmedian hydra  €       19,780  €       13,820  €       33,600
cavg hydra  €       18,149  €       13,323  €       31,472

They are based on hydranet 433, 433/483 (heavy jib), and fibercon 10.65.

You can see by yourself that prices are high, and they swing almost by 100%. Difficult to dig into pros and cons, being the "quality" difficult to quantify...they always claim theirs are the better quality, of course...

As a comparison, Boatoon offers the following - with TVA: the difference is more than 3X...

TTS1326 Shop price 6950,00€ and estimated delivery data is 5 weeks
TTS2211 Shop price 5550,00€ and estimated delivery data is 5 weeks
This is not what they call blue water Dacron, but is more expensive.

Hi Leon! is it fibercon pro 9.65 or 10.65?

I had Elvstrom Epex sails originally and now have North 3Di Ocean 700. Epex are a molded laminate much more like 3DL than 3Di. Don’t judge the longevity of 3Di on Epex. I have about 6000 nm on my 3Di sails and they are still  like new. They’re also much easier to flake into the stack pack on the boom.

By the way, the Hydranet main shown earlier in this thread looks rather draft aft, typical of an old sail.

to tell the truth, i have 20,000NM on my original Elvstrom FCL sails...and they are still alive, despite a lot of tropical sun! But they are delaminated and i wouldn't tempt the devil. I would prefer to save what's left as backup emergency sails...

Hi Piero, the quote I got was for a Fibercon 10.65 main. But, I would be using my existing Selden battens, cars and slides. That was fine with me.
