"ORC club" Handicap

   Evening all :-)

Has anyone had their boat measured for this handicap rule? The only fact sheet I could find was for the IMS rule and being an honest chap i didn't want to make anything up of course :-)

Any help would be appreciated

	Aris, We run the ORC Club handicap here in Vancouver. Last year we took a "standard" 400e certification already on file at ORC as a base. After a year of running with that I felt that there was no way we'd perform to that rating and started to check some of the measurements myself - freeboard, etc. I found my measurements much different than that hull that was on file. So I sent my measurements to the local ORC CLub rep and a new handicap was calculated that is a bit better. What in particular are you looking for? Steve Edited by Rubato - 12 May 2008 at 19:41

	Hi Steve, I was hoping to do what you originally did and submit the "standard" measurements that ORC require ( though I'm not sure which measurements they exactly are ) so as to get a preliminary rating for a race here at the end of May. I have the standard factory sails ( self tacker and main ) as well as a 133 sqm assymetric. I was told by the race organisers who are trustworthy old salts that if I was able to get these from the makers they'd give me a temporary rating until an ORC representative issues proper certificates, otherwise I would have to pay for a measurer to come over from Greece to measure my sails and boat! Do you have any idea which measurements they recquire? I'd be curious to know your ORC club rating, as I seem to remember though you race with a genoa, no?
