Lots if great information in this thread for any sailor and I can only add one thing. I crossed the Atlantic E to W in my 430 last year. Up until the Canaries I had been working in preventer setups and I never liked having to go forward to adjust the rigging. In the Canaries I bought a Walder boom brake and it was excellent for the long down wind sail. There are similar devices but this one is great. |

Out of curiosity, did you buy the Walder Boom Brake with the stainless arm guides for the rope or the one with the single alloy guides? Also do you know if there is any difference in performance or ease of use? Looking at them I wouldn’t expect there to be any difference.
Thanks Simon

The one I bought has the stainless arms. It was available in the Chanderly in Las Palmas. Heck there was a pile of them at a good price after the ARC left. |
