Topic: Port winch & sprayhood problemPosted: 03 November 2008 at 15:23 |

I am unable to use the port winch without folding down the sprayhood as the winchhandle knocks against the sprayhood.
I have made some measurements and the two winches(starboard and port) are not mounted symetrically and this causes a problem with the port winch. They seems however to be mounted on the factory "seats". Does anyone else have the same problem ? This is a big pain for regular family-cruising as Im living in Norway. Any help or comments are welcome. |

Hi Oddmund!
It seems to be exactly the same problem as I have om my boat (build 332): Port side and correct placement according to the "factory seats." Due to lack of service from the norwegian dealer, I have not even tried solve this case with their support. Neither my sales contact nor the manager give me any response to my emails sent 2 months ago regarding missing warranty fixes. I hope some in this forum will come up with a solution for this winch problem. |

Hi
I had the same problem on my boat which I took delivery in July, I got over the problem by Un screwing the grub screws on the SS frame and sliding the rail up so that when I used the winch, the handle missed the spray hood cover. hope this helps.
Regards
Richard.

I'm a bit uncertain what Ingvar is referring to for the phrase "support from the Norwegian dealer"
Richard - do you mean that the ss plate that the winch is resting on is fastened directly into the grp only by screwing directly into the grp?
Are there no nut's/washers underneath ? Edited by Oddmund - 03 November 2008 at 19:56 |

Oddmund:
I also mentioned "lack of support"
I was hoping you could take the fight with them to solve this problem

Hi The spray hood is held in shape by a tubalar frame and on my boat the bottom frame on the port side has a bracket which holds the tubular frame to the rear frame work so I loosend the 2 grub screws and slid the bracket up until I could operate the winch handle with out hitting the spray hood framework, I did not alter the fitting the bracket which is fixed to the GPR
Hope this helps very dificult to exsplain as I dont no what your spray hood is like.
regards richard

Ingvar: "lack of support" indicates that there once was support
Richard: If I understand you correctly you did not move the position of the winch, is this correct understood ?
Does anyone know how the winch is fastened ?

Hi
No I did not move the winch as the winch is fitted on a slight raised GPR and I beleive that the winch base is tapped into the GPR with a plate glased into the GPR that is how it should be done.

The Norwegian dealer has today responded to my complaint that they consider the positioning of the port winch as spesified by Hanse and that they will not make any changes to the positioning.
My position is that I consider it to be unacceptable to be unable to turn the winch 360deg without lowering the sprayhood and that I should not be the one that "eat" the cost for fixing this problem.
I will therefore check with my lawyer to see what legal actions that can be taken towards the dealer.
I will finally ask that any norwegian 370 owner that reads this sends me a PM so that we can discuss privately how to join forces to have this resolved. Edited by Oddmund - 04 November 2008 at 11:11 |
