My Hanse 470e (2008) has already modificated windows in the superstructure. The job was carried out by the Hanse dealer in Malta without a complaint by me about the original windows. I was impressed by the service and very content.

But now.... From the forum I learned that also the portholes should be modificated. ( See the terrifying story on the forum were a porthole was lost at full sea). I checked mine and I discovered that three of the portholes have some play.
The boat is in Turkey now, my original Dutch dealer is bankrupt and Hanse does not reply by phone nor by e-mail.

It seems that Hanse has modification kits available. Does anybody know how to get it when you are out of reach of dealers. A direct telephonenumber to the person in charge should be appreciated, for there is no reply on the common number published on internet.
And does anyone has some experience in changing the portholes?

sorry to here that. I have no "working" Phonenumber for you. May an additional Information will help you. The original windows as well as the modification Kit is coming from Lewmar. May you can go directly to them and negotiate something direct!

hope you can do the Modification quickly!!

Hi,

Hanse and the dealer in Greece just last week finished the superstructure windows. The portholes were done last winter.
If you get Hanse to supply the new portholes (under warranty) the work to change them is easy and fast.
It took us two years of polite pressure to mobilize them but they did a fantastic job. The boat looks better than new and is (finally) watertight and safe.

Until they changed the portholes we had to remove the old plexiglass ones and reglue then on the hull twice. The first time we noticed the problem we took about two tons of seawater in and Hanse replaced the house batteries because they were destroyed.

It is strange that Hanse is not answering emails and phones. They always answered my emails within a day or two. Did you try the emails published in the hanseyachts.com site?

Lewmar does not produce good hardware besides winches! I am completely disappointed and will nor accept Lewmar hardware on my next boat.

I had to change the windlass to another brand after the gears in the factory supplied one broke under load.
The initially supplied portholes proved unsafe and had to be replaced.
The factory supplied hatches had to by changed and new with thicker plexiglass are now installed.
The factory supplied Lewmar Delta anchor to chain fixture had to be exchanged because was not acceptable by the insurance company (they needed a swivel instead of just a schakle.
Several blocks have been replaced.

Besides the winches (which are good and easy to maintain) all Lewmar supplied hardware failed and had to be repaired or replaced. I do not understand how this company will continue to exist.
