Hi,

For MMBW Nicole I got a ten person's offshore life raft. For the moment I store it in the garage, which is perfectly legal by the wayConfused.
In case of emergency combined with power failure it is impossible to open the garage door and deploy the over 60 kg heavy canister life raft.
One idea is to install a specially designed life raft bracket on the deck immediately in front of the spray hood.
Another idea to install it under the cockpit seat failed, because the life raft is very long and doesn't allow the garage top lid to open.
Any other ideas?

Hi Panos

This is what we have done to store our liferafts on Moksha (540).   Our approach is not going to suit your 10 man raft.  We have used 2 x six man liferafts.

Moksha's solution suited us as we were going to have the room under the seats available and we did not want to take up any deck space, we wanted the liferafts within easy reach of the cockpit and we did not want bigger than 6 man liferafts as at times we will only have a couple of us on board.

Regards Richard

Usually a liferaft should be in work in about 20 sec. I have mine in a locker. Maybe it takes a little more. But it is only a 6pers. raft. A raft for 10 is so heavy, it must fall itself into the water, so  i think the only way is the shown above from Richard. The only thing i do not like is this amount of material at the end of the boat.

Hi Panos,
Congratulations and best of luck with the new 63.
Because of Irish passenger regulations we must carry a 16 person raft in a float free cradle with hydrostatic release. We found the cabin top was the only area we could install this.
Hope this helps.

What a beauty your boat! The only thing i do not like is exact the position of the life raft! What happens if the mainsailsheet gets caught by the life raft? A friend of mine lost this way his liferaft in havy seas. (BTW This cannot  not happen if you have your mainsailsheet in the cockpit and not on the roof.)

The mainsheet catching was one of my initial concerns but in reality the sheeting angles for the main are such that it does not catch.
I am aware that it detracts from boats lines but at the end of the day it is the place I would like should the worst happen.

I have been aboard that boat when she was still in my country. Whereabouts in Ireland do you keep her?

Aaron, that's a goodlooking website you have. I could spot the Swedish flag in some of the pictures too. I assume you'll keep that for special occasions, right?

Congratulations to your new boat and welcome to the forum!

Hi,
After looking to all suggestions and considering the + and - for various positions I decided to place the life raft on top of the coachroof. I ordered two teak wood brackets and will cover the life raft with a cushion to act as a couch.
