Hi guys

This is an interesting development for those of us who enjoy racing as well as cruising.  I'd like to contribute as a racer.

To my certain knowledge Hanses of differing designs are being regularly raced in the following UK and Ireland locations [apologies if I have missed anyone out and please tell me about your racing]:

Hartlepool
Scarborough
West Mersea
Medway
Eastbourne
Solent
Plymouth
Cardiff
Kinsale
Conwy
Dublin
Fleetwood
Whitehaven
Lake Windermere
Clyde

I am also aware of racing Hanses in Holland, Germany and Scandinavia.

In addition, many owners have participated in 'big' events such as Rally Portugal and the ARC, which have a competitive element.  I believe at least three Hanses will be doing the ARC 2007 [2 x 461 and a 430e] and I'd like to be on one!!

Is there a way of everyone recording all their results jointly so everyone can get a picture of performances?

Cheers for now

We will be racing a 370e with the new North Sails 3DR under IMS and IRC.  THe boat will be launched in mid March and we will keep you posted of results.

Hi Colin (or should we all use Ferret from now on),
We are not entering our 461 in the ARC racing division as we aim to cross with only 3 bodies on board - plus can't be stuffed with rating her either.
But we'd love to hear the rating on a 461 from anyone who's had one measured - just to compare how well we really do when overtaling other yachts!
Good luck to all
JOHN

Hi Colin,

You missed Thornbury Sailing Club on the Bristol Channel.

May you have fair winds

Hi guys

John - a 461 was IRC rated last year and got a TCC of 1.087, which is pretty attractive!  I think you are quite right not to enter the ARC racing division, however you will be very competitive in the cruising class [probably B?]  A 461 won this class and finished 8th overall in 2005.

Last weekend my fab daughter Lucy banned me from doing the ARC this year - something to do with her 21st birthday on 30/11!

Thanks Gordon, another for the list.  Please send me some results.

I signed up today for yet another Cowes Week on the infamous Hanse 291 known as White Mischief - with her well worn motto: not bad for a bunch of t**sers in a cruising boat...  Watch the results...

Cheers for now
Ferret

Hi guys

More rating news.  Hanse 400 #089 is IRC rated at TCC of 1.034.  I am trying to discover what has been measured in to achieve this.

Later...

A litle bit more info in the measurements of our 370e: the weight (made by the portuguese sailing federation) in IRC conditions (no sails in, no water, no fuel, etc) was 6.912 kgs. I'll keep updating this...
