Hi,

I am about to retrofit Quick windlass to my 325. Problem is that when I opened frontwall (where Hanse logo is) in a bow cabin I found that anchor locker has a duble wall. My question is have you cut a bigger hole there to get acsess or...? If someone could send pictures from inside for factory installed windlass I would appriciate much.

factory windlass are fitted in locker when the deck is not glued on hull yet.

I did retrofit a Windlass on a H355 (quite the same).
I recall that there's aluminium plates (10 mm) in the GRP where the windlass should be sit.  If you can tight bolts from upside (outside) it is a lot easier to drill and tap hole in these aluminium plates (do not forget Duralac or Tefgel on bolts).  Then you don't need nut nor ring under.
The drill a hole for cables which are easy to run down.

A retrofitted a lewmar windlass there 6 years ago.  I struggled.  I had to tighten bolts from under.  So I cut a round hole in the (fake) bulkhead to access (approx 180 mm).  I was still very difficult although.
Two windlass front bolts are "easy" to access but the aft bolt is located between deck underside and ceiling moulding and you can't see anything there.  You have to do it with your fingertips (full of sikaflex & tefgel Cry).  Tighthening the 3 bolts this way took me half a day in a very unconfortable position.

If I had to redo it I wil cut a very big hole in this decorative bulkhead and once finished close it with a new (removable) cupboard in order to increase storage.

If one day you have to replace front Led navlights You will also struggle the same way.

Thank you Bruno,

I noticed that if I should want to access water filling pipe or watertank went it is nearly impossible without cutting holes in fake bulkhead. But if there is 10mm alu plates, then I can use them. Same alu plate was in aft locker when I installed DD15 autopilot drive.
