I’ve noticed a leak in my port side aft shower. Water collects on the floor in the port aft cabin right behind the curved panel, and works its way to the bilge. Not a lot - but enough to notice. This shower gets a lot of use. Caulking in the shower looks good. So does the drain in the shower pan - which I know can leak. Suspect a leak between the vertical panels in the shower stall which might be snapped on? Any clues how to figure out the location of this leak and how address would be appreciated. ------------- Kipwrite |

Hi Kipwrite Are you sure it is a real leakage? In our H505 #072 we get some seawater in the forward port toilet trough the drain vale from the sink when we forget to close it during sailing. I guess my theory can be excluded if the leakage water is fresh water and not salt. Good luck in you search. Bjarne

It’s fresh water for sure. And I’ve learned to close the basin drains when the boat is heeled over. Learned that lesson awhile ago.

Another try; we have had leakage in the hidden mixer for hot/cold water in the forward port toilet. If you remove the mixer handle you will be able to unscrew the "silver" outer cylinder and remove the mixer. On the inner end of the mixer you will see O-rings that might represent a leakage. See to that the O-rings are OK and refit the mixer unit. Make sure that the silver cylinder is giving sufficient pressure on the O-rings in the mixer keeping the system tight. Onboard our H505 we had a leakage here. I am running out of suggestions, so I hope you´ll find the leakage soon  .Bjarne

I noticed a similar problem after I’d completed a thorough clean and really good hose down of both of our showers (we must have been in a marina!) For us the problem was resolved by caulking the joints of the wall panels - which is what you suspected. I have also run a weather seal along the metal door sill of the forward shower to prevent water running under the door and onto the cabin floor. ------------- Alesea Hanse 505 NZL9464 |

Thanks. I think I’m going to try caulking the vertical seams. Everything else seems intact, though I have not inspected the mixing valve, which I will do before proceeding with the seams. Curious what kind of caulk you used. Does the sealing strip come off easily and then snap back on?
It wasn’t apparent to me how this can be caulked. ------------- Kipwrite |
