I replaced my companionway boards with a "screen door" that has acrylic panels that can be inserted if the temps drop or the weather needs to be kept out.  Combined with my dodger I leave these on all season and rarely get any moisture inside, even after the heaviest squall.  If you would like some pics send a PM with your email address.  My portholes do not have screens.  My hatches do have screens.

i have Oceanair blind / screen combination at the front hatch, Lewmar flyscreen at the middle hatch, flyscreen at the cockpit windows and a board with flyscreen at the companionway.
For the Lewmar hatch I could sell you one.

Hi

I made flyscreens myself using foam and mosquito nets

Works really well and is cheap

Good luck

Here are some I made for our 418.  They are two layers of craft foam board with the mesh glued between the two layers. The ones for the port hatches are pushed into place when the hatch is open and then held in place by the hatch locking pins.

The ones for the coachroof overhead hatches are held in place by Velcro tape so can be dropped to access the locking catches.

The one for the rear cabin opening into the cockpit was actually a kit from local hardware store.  It is a plastic frame with sticky backed magnetic strips applied to the frame and then another to the edge of the window on the cockpit wall.  Good in principle but I am finding that the sticky back doesn’t seem to respond well to salt water environment so may have to replace with the double sided Velcro tape used on the forward hatches.

Hope these help add to the choices.

Hi Bruce, that is a very neat job, what thickness foam did you use please?

The foam was 3mm thick so when glued together with the screen fabric inside, they end up about 7-8mm which fits nicely inside the space for the hatch with a little bit of play.

Cutting the shape with a sharp hobby knife was the best I found.  After they were glued and dried, I used some 200 sandpaper to clean off the edges to get them fairly smooth.  Not 100% but good enough when held in by the clips as any slight roughness hidden inside the porthole.

I got my flyscreens for my ceiling hatches in the salon and in the fore cabin on my Hanse 370 (2007) directly from Lewmar. They work very well as they will detach and hang down when I want to open or close the hatch and can be quickly and conveniently secured back into place. Check them out in the Lewmar online catalogue.

we made a frame and used an ocean air recessed shade with mosquito net. Works perfectly!
