Hi Andrey

I have a 540 which was due to leave the factory in early May that has been delayed 2 or 3 weeks due to hold ups in the hull painting.  Apparently they have received more orders for hull painting than expected.

Curious to know if anyone has details on what the "hull painting problem" is. I wouldn't have thought there was anything new here. Hanse has been colouring the hulls for some time now - different methods depending on colour type and construction type (epoxy vs glass). So what's changed?

From what I was told there has been many more people choosing to have coloured / painted hulls, more than Hanse expected even allowing for an increase.

I do not think so, because when they take the order they have to know is it possible to produce it in time or not. I do not think that they do not have a plan. As far as I know from dealer they have some technical problem with painting epoxy hull of 430

Today I was informed by my dealer that the delivery of my Hanse 430 would be 3-4 weeks late due to problems with forms. He claimed that they had problems with delivery dates on all of their larger models.  The boat was supposed to be delivered early July.

The boat was ordered in March, and its incomprehensible to me that a supposedly professional builder does not have its production capacity planed, I just hope that this does not indicate poor quality in the build process...

What I find incomprehensible is that Hanse is not providing information to this forum, and by the looks of the posts above, to their dealers either. Whatever problems they are experiencing, they'd be far better served by providing facts rather than leaving dealers to make excuses and making a fertile ground for rumour.

I'm glad I havent signed an order yet. The boats look fantastic, but I'm having doubts about the organisation. Doubts I dont have when dealing with more established builders.  I'll give Hanse a little more time, because I  agree with their design philosphy, but if facts dont start to surface, I think I'll join the queue down at Beneteau

Of course more established builders do not face a 40% increase of the demand for their production!!
Saying that I have to say that I have received this morning "the information that the boat is delayed"!! till the end of May.
That's we need to cope with, when we want to sail real sailing boats!!

when does hanse, how many weeks before,  tell you the exact date for delivery?

The interesting point here is that we as customers are treated this way. If you buy a car, the dealer can give you the production slot and date of delivery when you sign the contract, and you are reasonably certain that you will get it on time and that the car actually works from day one.

In the boating industry you get the month of delivery, and often there are delays. When you get the boat you have to have your own quality inspection procedure because all too often the product that they have promised to deliver is not delivered. Shakedown cruises etc are the norm in the boating industry, shakedown drives are not in the car industry.

And yes Hanse probably has models which sails well , but the problem with misted delivery dates and technical problems seem to me to be an industry problem. I had a Bavaria before...

Hi guys, here are the last news!!

430 #004 will enter in production ..... the 30th of May! Guess that we won't get it before the end of June.
The June maiden cruise has gone.
But don't worry the 430 #004 will be built after the #030 which entered in production  on Saturday last week!! I don't understand anything at all!!
Only cross my fingers.

what does it say in the contract regarding delivery date?

To continue on the thoughts of Seileren 1, buying a boat is like buying a house, both in terms of completion date, but also in terms of debugging. The same as a house, the best buy would be to get something 1 year old, where the last owner has just finished debugging everything. My Hnnse has now been in my hands for 1 year and has just come back from a 2 week stay at the dealer to get last seasons bugs sorted. And some of the bugs I have decided to fix myself, but that is more due to dealer service level than Hanse boatyard. But got to remember at the end of the day that they are still fantastic boats.

Absolutely right Popeye

That's why we ordered our new boat nearly two years ahead of the start of our blue water circle.
Being a boat owner for more than two decades I knew that we won't be staying ahead of our schedule for a long time!
It seems that we already lost two months!
Anyway we all know the story about shower and bucks but sailing a fantastic boat is more than a goal, it is an achievement.

Why?

Hull #004 should be standard white!
