I don't think you have finished exploring!

You should also explore what is under the false bilge tray under the rear floorboard. If you use a small hole saw you can gain access to the hidden bilge that is between the false bilge and hull.

The hole wants to be at the front end  either side of the front central floor board retaining screw in the top of the divider between rear false bilge and front real bilge.
We had a freshwater leak and recovered  two gallons of grunge with a Pela from this hidden location. You can also use hole for retrieving things that can slide into this bilge from under the sink area! A cheap endoscope on a mobile phone helps exploration.

Much like the others in the linked thread, I had a dry boat then started to find some water in the bilge which I could not work out where it came from.  It seemed fresh, though a bit difficult to confirm.  Then having dried it out and lifted the boat out, I found more water appear (after heavy rain) so it had to be fresh water.  On investigation, water was coming in around the rudder/tiller at the top, into the rear locker, then seeping back into the bilge where the bilge pump hoses come through.  A a simple bit of sealant around the rudder sorted it out and we have been dry since. Smile

thanks ! I was wondering how the bilge pipes routed to the drain and if there was a way to access - have only spent a few of hours on board since the purchase so far....

Hope you get time to play on the boat soon (Covid permitting).  I'm sure you will enjoy it.
I have had Hobo for 10 years now and the 301 is such a fun boat.  Goes great in light winds but still safe and keeps going in 25+kts true with 2 reefs and a No.3 - though pretty uncomfortable! (we were racing or I would not have been out).
If you are located in the Solent, come and join the fun at the Portsmouth Sailing Club events (Spring and Autumn race series over 5-6 Saturdays, IRC for the serious racers and Club class for the rest of us.

Hi, I'm new to the forum.

I have a Hanse 300 wing-keel for 3 years

The bottom of your boat is perfect, without the slightest crack.

It's important to watch your boat's bottom from time to time.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for the floor panel at the bottom of the stairs? (in the first 2 pictures in this thread).  Debating whether to repair mine (it has got a bit bashed and ply has come apart a bit where it has got wet) or get a new one.

Cheers,
Alan.

There won’t be the slightest chance of an OEM one so as Steve says Robbens are the best bet for a similar teak and holly sheet which will have to be cut to size probably by someone who knows what they are doing because these are v expensive materials and you don’t want to cut twice!

I tried Hawke Head in Gosport but they only sell the full sheets (2.5m x 1.2m) so they recommended Robbins as well as they supply them and may have offcuts. I'm waiting for them to get back to me.

Alan - try Mark Buckett of Solent Yacht Repairs at Endeavour Quay, Gosport (07515 944000) / info@solentrepairs.com   His guys make pretty much everything (including my rudder!)

Can you measure it? There is a very small chance I may have a piece in my garage that would fit and I'm central UK south coast. You would be welcome to it if it would fit

Send an email to Boatoon and ask, or try to find it on their homepage:

If you just need a piece of a plate, they normally cut it for you.

Thanks everyone for the replies!  I got a quote from Robbins but they only supply full sheets (2500mm x 1220mm) and that came out at £671 (eek!).  I only need a panel 725mm x 600mm x 12mm deep.

@Matt, if you have an offcut that size (ish) that would be great and I'd be happy to pay something or donate to a charity (RNLI?).

Apologies Alan but the offcut I have is too small :(

Have you tried Inspiration Marine? Andy Locke may have some spare, or may be able to suggest other places you could try. Another option may be kayospruce in Segensworth

Thanks for looking Matt.I've tried Kayospruce and some others.  The main issue seems to be that everyone buys it in as a full sheet and no-one has a small piece available.  Other option will be just to buy some plain marine ply which will not match but will at least be functional.

hallo dear Hanse friends
I feel some how glad/confused reading this tread
The community is by far most helpful and caring love it

I have myself sailed since 1984 and at least once a year (probably a lot more) I clean under every floor and enginebay,
is cleaned and that’s to avoid the boat to get smelly

And the feeling of a clean smell free boat is so good (purchased new or used I did the same)

I guess it’s just me that has this obsession to have it as good as possible
But regardless of that how many do actually keep it clean in every compartment in their boats

Maybe I should just loose up a bit and only clean once a year;)

Regards jonas
