Hi, I have a standard 2008 Hanse 430E and need to replace several push button latches. Can anyone tell me where I can get replacements. Need about 10. Cheers

Scott

Hi Scott,

some latches should be in the Hanse spares set.
If you need more, you can order them through the Boatoon Hsnse shop.

They are reasonably priced

I have found that if you unscrew the knob and shoot some WD 40 into it, it stops the binding and failure.  No guarantee but some of mine were failing and it helped.

The push button draw and door catches are common on European motor homes [recreational Vehicles].

However I have refurbished them by simply strip and cleaning the sliding mechanism.

Noted that you had sailed around Britain.  That is a trip I would have been interested.  With time constraint might look to sailing from Solent up West Coast to Scotland and returning.  Did you find a detailed pilot book for your trip? Any advice would be very welcome.

Hi Scott,

I think I have listed this in the past in 415 section but lubricating  the latches simply does not fix the problem of my wife placing too much inside our cabinets and placing pressure to lock- then the stupid Hanse fitting breaks - ring Rivierra Yachts on the Gold Coast - their base component is all you need, not the push button part. Their products is a  stronger where they break - ie better designed. It is an exact replacement and less than $20.

Hi Yeoey
Thanks for the recommendation, I ordered 10 latches from Riviera and they arrived within 1 week. Far more robust than the original Hanse ones and half the price!
All the best
Paul

Hi Paul, glad that I could help-

I am slipping Sea Rambler this week and am going to remove rudder for its first service (SR was launched in May 2014)
The Hanse support payers provide a copy of Jefa’s fact sheet and instruction that the rudder post to the blade should be inspected every 3 years - have you done yours yet? And if so was the process the same as covered in the relative Jeff video?

As an aside I have spoken with the Australian distributor (almost next door to Rivierra at Coomera) and he supports the guidance as I would expect , however he said it is a maintenance issue that many neglect with result around 10 years of total bearing replacement due to the #haft expanding via electrolysis/ rubbish build on the shaft which makes the delron ball pressuring the side rollers leading increased friction etc

Hi Peter
I wasn't aware that Jefa recommend that, it seems quite a short cycle. Night Train was slipped last May and we partially dropped the rudder (the yard we use has hydraulic trolleys rather than travel lifts so getting enough height to take the rudder out completely is an issue) All looked ok after 6 years so we just pressure washed it and put it back.
When we first got the boat there was an earth cable fixed to the rudder quadrant, on advice from Jefa and subsequently confirmed by Hanse we removed this, so I hope electrolysis isn't an issue.
All the best
Paul

Hi again Paul

This is link to Jefa instructions -  https://www.jefa.com/maintenance/maintenance.htm" rel="nofollow - https://www.jefa.com/maintenance/maintenance.htm  where it mentions every 3 years

Didn’t slip Sea Rambler today due to rain forecast so have rebooked after Easter and will see how it goes - agent said it only takes about an hour to remove - be interesting if that is an hour by the clock or “about an hour “ in boat yard time

Hi, which item in the catalog are you referring to? I don't see 3 for $19?

hello

Please see my 2nd or 3 posting - it clarifies price from one for less than $20 to 3 for $21 plus postage - I think it is the first item on the page.

I haven’t followed up the other matter yet related to rudder service as my slip time allocation is not until next week.
