We are upgrading but can't confirm what to yet until everything finalised. We enjoyed 7 weeks cruising this summer in my first year of full retirement. This could have been 6 months with a boat that could take friends or family for a weeks holiday in any celtic nation destination! High light this year was an extended cruise eventually meeting up with 10 other club members in IOS. Most memorable sail was showing all of them the way from Padstow to New Grimsby despite being the smallest in the fleet! I found the sweet spot in a force 5 gusting 6 with auto helm in full control of double reefed main and full genoa. Stunning performance.
Wally did me a big favour as he tried to board us in Porth Cressa! Bevs words were straight out of the Jaws script. No damage done to boat or Wally but has helped loosen the purse strings....
Fishguard was a storm boat hole for 5 days. We fitted a good fender board with 5 fenders locked in behind it. This then spread the load as we were blown onto the excellent ladders there. You need to use the rising rings on the fore and aft lines and have springs to same. We were there when the big gale run through late May. Friends in Neyland Marina had a much rougher time and popped their fenders. Not the first time we have dried out alongside. The bottom is good and it is only on spring tides that you would dry! I would be quite confident of doing the same at Solva and/or also rafting alongside a bilge keeler with a similar draft.
As Ramsey and Jack sound virgins we found them character building especially as we suffered a gps blackout just before Jack sound.
Bluenote handled the huge post storm swells with ease. I was amazed by the huge breaking rollers off the entrance to Milford. The opening theme to Hawai 5 O came to mind but we skirted well round them! The 301 is just such a stunning performing boat and deserve the price tag that I am hoping you will all benefit from.
I was told by two broker friends that I should ask for at least 30% more than I thought the boat was worth last year. Judging by the response so far I don't think they are wrong.
We will keep an eye out on the forum and will be more than happy to welcome any owners if we meet in future ventures.
