I have  installed an exturn thruster on my 345. It is quiet and very effiicient. Power is from a 90 Ah AGM installed at tzhe bow, which is charged from the house bank by a Sterling Bat-Bat charger. Installation was done by the yard in one day !

Thanks for this. I hadn’t thought of an external one. I was thinking of a tunnel version. Not sure if anyone installed a tunnel version on a 350.

Hello
I talked with a owner that have a tunnel version on the Hanse 355. There bowtrusther are not enough under the waterline. The best result is with the watertank filled with water.
As I write too you, I have the EX 95 side-power external bowtruster. I can send some picture after the weekend with the 24V batteri installation under the bed beside the watertank.
Best regards
Flemming

Thanks Fleming. That might explain why no one seems to have the tunnel on the 350. It might be possible if the water tank was not there.

Hello I have a bow truster on my Hanse 350.

It is a BOWPRO76 AC Bow Thruster 76kgf 12-24V from Vetus.

It is mounted under the watertank and with a batteri installed near it. It works best with at least som water in the tank.

Best regards Peter

Thanks Peter. Looks like a nice installation. I was thinking of the Venus 45kgf with 125mm tunnel. Would you have any internal photos of the tunnel at the water tank? Thanks.

No I am sorry, I haven't any pictures it was all done professionally, but off course it is possibly to
put in almost any bow prop you want. I assume that you want to install it yourself :) but I can't help you in this, I am not that skilled, unfortunately.

Best regards Peter

Thanks Peter. The tunnel I am thinking of is 125mm (Vetus). I will get someone else to do the tunnel/fibreglass work and I will install thruster and wiring. Just wanted to get internal photos of an installation. Thanks again for your help here. If you can take a photo it would be great.

Hi All, I installed both bow and stern retractable thrusters in my 2007/8 350 last year. Used the side power system. Brilliant wish I had done it years ago!

Hi Raw72
Looking for installing the side-power bow thruster system on a Hanse  tel:350%202008" rel="nofollow - 350 2008 , but would very much like to see references from other installations. Could you be so kind to share pictures of your installation with me?
Where did you place it to have enough room.
Looking forward to hear from you.

Best regards

hi J&M, I will take some pictures this week.  And try and post!! had to install a much smaller water tank (40 litres)  under the forward V berth to make room for the thruster housing and motor. I always planned to install a water maker on board so this is not too much of a problem. The stern thruster fitted perfectly behind the engine in the starboard aft cabin under the bed.

Hello

I have by the way had serious trouble with the Vetus joystick for the thruster. It was installed in 2020 and broke after a few months. I got a replacement last year, and because of illness I have barely used it. And now it is broken again. A control that lasts under a year, that isn't ok. And the problem is electrical, it is not because of malhandling or anything like that.

Hi Peter. I wonder is the button control better than the joystick? Even still both should not fail. Not good.

i don't know, if the button control is better, but it isn't as complicated, so I guess it is. The joystick is for the Bowpro thruster a dc coupled engine that can run continuously in different speeds.

NK1,
After now 3 years are you happy with your 125mm thruster ?  Is it enough in any circumstances ?
Many thanks

Hi. I just use for docking in the marina. It’s an aid and has prevented a few dings. Very handy but don’t rely solely on it.

Hi installed retractable Bow and Stern thrusters from side-power in my 2007/8 Hanse 350. Needed to replace the water tank for a smaller one, very easy install, the stern is in the Starboard rear cabin under the bunk aft of the engine! Tight but fits fine.  Run them for a few years now best thing I have ever done, the yacht can be manoeuvred with ease at slow speeds with strong  cross winds or cross currents and docking is a  very easy one man operation with the hold function.  Can’t seem to get pics to load but I can send via WhatsApp or email if anyone is interested.
