Has anyone tried to route the water in the condensation tray of the A/C units to a sump box?  For some reason, I thought Hanse was already doing that but then noticed I was getting water in my bilge after I tried it out.  The A/C units were the culprit.  I am being foolish trying to keep my bilge bone dry?  Is there a better solution?

Marc,

Our 575 came from Hanse with the AC condensate into the sumps. Forwrad cabin into forward sump. The saloon and aft cabins drain into the aft sump.

Mine also drain into the shower sumps.

hmmmmm.....  ok.   I found the condensation lines into the sumps.  They were on the backside of the unit and I had only noticed the blank drain hole that was not connected.  So, then why do I have liquid in the tray?  Shouldn't it drain dry?  Or do you always have some liquid sitting in the tray?

Ok.  I confirmed, the aft A/C unit tray is draining dry.   It seems to only be the one in the main salon near the forward bulkhead that is not draining.  I wonder if there is an obstruction or is the AC unit not quite high enough to drain easily.

We installed one of the "Mermaid condensators" a few years ago and it has worked well for us. It basically uses the Venturi principle to suck fluid out of the AC tray and feed it into the AC water discharge circuit. It does require a little maintence but was a nice solution for us.
