I have a B&G autopilot with Triton controls which was working perfectly until yesterday when I started getting "no rudder response" a minute or two after engaging the autopilot. There is a possibility that something tangled in the for rudder because I did lose steering for about 30 seconds until I was able to force the wheel left and right and dislodge whatever was there. The error message began after that episode.

Almost certainly you have blown the fuse on the autopilot.  This happens when the load on the pilot is very high such as you putting pressure on the wheel.  Mine went last year when I was trying to balance the boat in 56kts.  Thankfully we survived unscathed.

The 415/8 has the pilot computer installed in the port cockpit locker.  There is a 10 or 15A fuse in a single holder.  Simple fix if you know where to look.

Here is the schematic; which fuse are you referring to?

I'm guessing it will be on the supply
Take a look in the port cockpit locker and identify the pilot computer.  You should see cables with an in-line fuse holder.  It is pretty obvious although you do need to get your head right into the locker.  A torch will help.

I replaced the 15 fuse and tried to reinstall the autopilot but still get the no rudder response message.

If you have changes the fuse, have you lifted the cover over the steering quadrant? Given you said you had an issue with the steering moments before, maybe the rudder sensor has become detached?

I'd go into your B&G network settings and see if the rudder angle indicator is still on the network, and if so, is it's status 'ok.' I find my B&G will on rare occasions lose a source, or a device will disappear.

Sounds like a call to B&G might be in order. Good luck.

This was passed on to me from another forum member. It helped me to fix an autopilot problem. My fuse on the Würth DC panel was blown.

Thanks. Which fuse on the panel corresponds to the autopilot?

When I try to Recommission the autopilot and do the rudder feedback calibration, after I complete the process, the radio button next to that step won't stay checked so I'm unable to move onto the next step

Sorry that document wasn’t the one I thought. Here’s a better one where you can see the fuse labeled “autopilot.”
