I know the SMS can be a pain and several owners have replaced it with the original Max Power control units. However we prefer to just fix it before removing the whole thing. 

Our problem is, that we can not activate the system on the "joystick-unit". 

We push the select button, which lights green but when pushing the "select" and "thruster" button nothing happens. 

We had it in the past and found some loose, corroded wires at the bow thruster control box. But this time everything looks good and connections intact. 

As I am sure you guys faced similar or maybe the same problems, how have you solved it? What was your method to localize the problem? 

As everything is connected at the SMS even a loose cable in the stern control box can cause a complete system disfunction. 

If we won't be able to solve this issue we might have to get rid of the system as well and install two (Bow and stern) redundant control systems to take its complexity in case of problems. 

Open for every suggestion.

Hi, I am using the same thread as it’s still regarding the Max Power Thrusters:

 we have a Hanse 495 from 2011. 

it came with a bow and stern thruster controlled by the Hanse Smart Mooring System. Thrusters are Max Power compact retract 24V. 

Last week we had to remove the bow thruster for repairs. Now it’s back in but when I want to retract and lift, the bow thruster only retracts a little bit but not complete. When I manually retract and lift it also just moves a little bit. 

Does anyone know if I have to program the system again and if yes how do I do this? Does anyone have a installation/programming manual on hand? 

Again Hanse official is not really a source of help.
