Hello,

My 505 is from 2016, and i need to replace all faucets in both bathrooms because the salty air and water ruined them. I have found some nice stainless replacements, but now i have to connect the new ones to the water system.
I can't get a clean picture of the connectors, but it looks like some sort of PE-x water system. I think it may be Rehau Stabil... but i am not sure. Does anyone know the exact dimensions of the waterpipes in the 505? Is it 16 or 17mm?
It looks like the current connections are all pressed, but i don't have the proper tools to do that so i wanted to use other fittings that i can install without special tools. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the link, but the PEX pipe in the boat is 17mm, not 16mm external diameter.
I found a socket for 17mm x 2mm pipe , but my boat has 17mm x 3mm. I ended up drilling the internal of the pipe to 12.5mm with a drill…. There must be a better way to do this….anyway, i solved it and now have beautiful new stainless faucets etc…

The system is "Prineto Sliding Sleeve" system available from IVT.  Their shop is:
https://shop.ivt-group.com/en-us/prineto-schiebeh%C3%BClsensystem-2/product-category=prineto-sliding-sleeve-connection-system/?count=20" rel="nofollow - https://shop.ivt-group.com/en-us/prineto-schiebeh%C3%BClsensystem-2/product-category=prineto-sliding-sleeve-connection-system/?count=20

The catalog for the system is on page 82 of this link:
https://media.witglobal.net/bkmedia/ivt/1519/en/Catalogue_2023/#page_82" rel="nofollow - https://media.witglobal.net/bkmedia/ivt/1519/en/Catalogue_2023/#page_82

The white pipe is "Size 16" in their nomenclature (refer to the catalog for actual dimensions).  The system is quite nice ... once you overcome the very inconvenient & expensive aspects of dealing with a small project:
  • They ship to many countries from the store, but not the US.  (I realize you're not, for the benefit of others who read this thread.) However, you can email them and they will set you up ... but then you need to pay via wired funds, not credit card.
  • You absolutely need their installation tools if you are going to stick with their system.  The extra tough cutter might be optional, but suggested at 42 Eur.  You need the widening pliers to stretch the inner diameter at 167 Eur plus a Size 16 widening head at 67 Eur.  Finally, you need the sliding pliers to slide the sleeve over the fitting you plug into the pipe.  Those will set you back another 353 Eur and the Size 16 head at 44 Eur.  All-in, 673 Eur just to get the darn tools, which are large & heavy.  If you can get the tools into the spot you are working, they work very well and will never ever leak.
  • If that wasn't fun enough, the pipe is available in 4m lengths.  So that you aren't trying to ship a 4m box, they will cut it to a shorter length (1m, for instance).
The threads on the fittings are BSP.  At the 1/2" trade size (for those less familiar with plumbing sizes, nothing observable is actually 1/2", it is just the trade size).  So, to avoid the expense of getting into the toolset, some have found an existing swivel connector and tee'd in or extended with more widely available accessories/fittings/pipe.  For people in other parts of the world, be mindful that NPT/BSP are similar and you can overcome the differences with a lot of teflon tape & paste in a pinch.  But the right way to make a fitting that won't leak, match your threadforms or get an adapter.

Yes Prineto fittings are not available in US, the closest match is 1/2" PEX B fittings which are only tiny bit larger, the expander tool helps. Cheers!

Below some pictures.

I could not find these items anywhere in Europe....ended up buying them from AliExpress...i was not disappointed with the quality. But its not 316 stainless, its 304.
(i think its ok for inside the boat, and a lot better then the standard factory solution)
Also...if you order the faucets, order them WITH the wall-box, you will need that to mount them into place. If you want my installation solution and details... let me know...

@wild
I posted a while back about the challenge of fixing pipework with the system installed by Hanse.  I had to replace the box for the shower tap on the stern and the only way to do this was cut the existing pipes.
As a result I have a horrible bodge of connecting pipes with jubilee clips holding everything together.
I would love to get this improved.  Do the items you have shown clamp onto the Hanse pipe and allow "normal" plumbing connections to be used?

The items are connected with standard 1/2 inch fittings to the pipes. I cut the pipes and inserted a connector similar to the one mentioned earlier in this thread. I found that a 17x2mm -> 1/2 inch connector worked just fine.
The only thing i needed to do was drill the fist 1 cm of the inside of the cut pipe with a 12.5mm drill. No special tools required. Or you can buy the earlier mentioned (in this thread) special tools and use 16mm connectors. Come to think of it, with a 16x2mm -> 1/2 inch connector you don't even have to drill (as long as it fits over the pipe)

Hey
I know On our boat build 2010 for Europe (not USA 🇺🇸 or Australia 🇦🇺) Hanse used PEX (Brands like Rehau , Henco ,Giacomini etc) tube 16/2mm normally house plumbing and you can easy find the connections in Europe .
16/2,2 mm is used for heating systems with a oxygen diffuser layer inside.
17/2mm(this is not common used in Europe for plumbing ) only for (floor)heatingsystems
Hope this helps you

But when i measure the outside diameter of the PEX pipes....its 17mm... not 16mm. So will the standard 16/2 mm PEX connectors fit?

Normally somewhere on the tube and the fittings there’s a inscription with the diameter

On page 20 of the Prineto manual, it outlines the "Size 16" pipe as having a OD of 17mm and a thickness of 2.8mm.
