My 505 has the Quick DP3 Windlass and I was wondering what is the manual recovery procedure if the motor or battery dies?  I wasnt sure how to do it in an emergency.

Marc,

On the top of the winch there is a star shaped socket that a winch handle fits in. If you wind it one way it releases the manual brake and the chain will free fall. But I have no idea how you manually retrieve the anchor chain. On one of the websites selling this winch it states It (DP3) is equipped with an emergency manual lift system so you can conveniently retrieve your anchor during instances when you may lose batter power on your boat." But the site nor the Quick manual say how this works. I would also be interested to know how it is supposed to work.

I guess I would take a line down the anchor chain and tie it to a link and use a sailing winch to pull the chain up.

This is what the Quick website says about manual recovery:
Quick windlasses Antares, Argo and Hector are equipped with a manual lift system in case of power loss.

I don't think mine has this option.  A friend who was chartering last year had a windlass failure. Turned out to be damaged wiring in the plug-in controller which had been caught in the locker lid - another reason for having a wireless control. They lifted the anchor metre by metre using a line taken to a cockpit winch.

Original on our tel:546%202010" rel="nofollow - 546 2010 Hanse mounted a Lewmar H3/1000 W anchor winch.
The manual recovery kit is a extra option just like the rope drum and not offered by Hanse 🤬
The Lewmar H3 is garbage and much to poor for this size of boat 🤬😤
We change it after 2 years to Lowfrans Cobra 1500W standard with manual recovery and rope drum for almost the same price
