Hi,
we noticed a chafe on the main halyard at the mast top.
There is a ss plate installed between the two turning blocks which chafes our halyard.
Seems like the ss plates edges are very sharp and during longer passages it constantly chafes the rope.
Anyone else has this problem? Or had it and solved it?

Our main sail halyard chafed for a similar reason in the first few months we had the boat. I added a Dyneema cover to the halyard in that area and 9 years later it is still good.

Do you have a picture of it?
Is it just a cover or how shall I imagine?

Julian,

Attached is not a very good image of our mainsail halyard, The available light at the moment is very bad.  You should be able to see the Dyneema outer or cover about 400mm long starting about 300mm above the knot. The additional cover is put on over the halyard and it normal cover. I have just whipped the ends of the cover so it stays in place. Dyneema outer or cover should be available from chandlers who sell sailing lines or riggers. The attached website is from Premium Ropes in Europe who sells all sorts of lines, splicing tools and supplies - they also have a very good free APP that shows step by step splicing etc - even adding covers - https://www.premiumropes.com/dx-cover
