Hello,

while I was attempting to test the float switch of my bilge pump, I noticed the location of the pump (the bilge compartment immediately in front of the motor access in a Hanse 385 from 2016) does not appear to be the lowest point of the boat. The water just kept disappearing and running elsewhere.

In fact, the lower hole (of the two) towards the forward end of the bilge that I thought would adjoin the next-in-line bilge one compartment forward instead empties water in a dead space that appears to be underneath the beams forming the solid structure of the boat. I put my finger in there and believe I felt cables (possibly from the kitchen leading over to the panel on the other side).

Does anyone know where and how to access this area (or where the lowest point actually is on a 385) as water accumulates there somehow that I haven’t been able to easily locate in order to get rid of it (with a sponge or a better place for another bilge pump).

Thank you for your tips!

Mat

I had a few issues with the stern shower that resulted in a significant volume of water in the bilge.
I think that the area under the galley sink is actually lower than the central position of the bilge pumps.
