My 415 has been plugged into shore power all winter and a few weeks ago, I noticed that the main lights in the boat no longer work. Originally thought it was a shore power issue but this is not the case. Is it a blown fuse?

Could be a fuse, but the control panel is also known to give up. If it is more than one group, it might be the control board. There are some diodes on the control board that have a tendency of failing

Do you have the Caliri panel with the green LEDs next to the switch/breaker? If so, the switch is also the breaker and there is no other fuse. The green LED indicates that you have power at the load end of the breaker. If you have a green light but none of your lights work you may have a failure on either the power or the ground wire in the wiring harness. Unfortunately Hanse used some un-tinned wire and crimps and connectors that aren’t sealed from moisture. If you have more than one circuit for the lighting and none of them are working it could be that they share a common ground connection that has failed.

Is it this one?
I had an issue on my 458 a while I back. The broker sent me a new panel which wasn’t the same as the old panel. Fortunately, I figured out that the old panel has some programming built into it for things like dimming and grouping. Sorry I can’t remember how I found it - probably the internet. In any case I was able to get it back working fully with some button pushing/holding.

No blown fuse. We swapped and tried a replacement controller, no change; he then had us check the relays and swap, no change.

Have you checked the obvious Lamps, if they have been broken during higher voltage when on shore power Then if it is a grounding error Take a multimeter and check from socket to ground

Still not resolved. These are the notes from the tech that tried to fix the issue:
-traced wiring to a PLC circuit board behind electrical panel - able to get lights to work by hot wiring but lighting circuit board is not outputting power to lights - ID circuit board but unable to get locate any manuals online - swap fuse in circuit board but did not solve issue - installed new light zone switch, no change - tried changing relays at main panel for lighting channels w/ red fault, no change

Hi Tlivac87:
I am pretty sure it is the control board that is behind the cabinets on the port side. You can see it when you open the cabinet with the switches. It is on the right side when you look into the control. I had exactly the same issue. One of the diodes on that board failed. I have a repaired board in spare that I can sell you if you like and/or I can send you a picture of the repaired board I have so you can cross check versus yours. Where are you located? You can direct message me

Thanks for your response. I would be interested in seeing a picture of the board. How much?

Do you have a picture of what diode needs to be fixed, and any specs on that diode? Looking at the board, yes, it is surprising they used an exposed ribbon cable for the connection to the remote panel.
Checking the ribbon cable, my thought was that there would be a ground and a 3.3V or 5V power line, as well as some communications lines, but didn't see that with a meter; would need an oscilloscope to debug the protocol.
Can't find any wiring diagrams online for this.

A bit of poking around found:

18 shows the board, but not the internals. There appear to be three
12VDC incoming circuits, powering four outputs, K2, K4, K5, K7. The
ones seen by me are K2, K3, K5, and two sets into K7.

Harold, I am also very interested in the repair that you did to the dimmer/control box PCB. You mentioned diode failure. I’ve had to replace a dimmer box and now have a spare that I’d like to repair. Any help in locating the components would be appreciated. Thanks.

BTW, image of the board is below.
If the diodes can be identified, they are generally cheap to get.

Engineroom, what are the Vespar units located near the dimmer PCB? Not something I recognize on my boat.

By the way, looking at the lighting board, it looks like it might be an Arduino Leonardo plus the power transistors/relays on one board.
The main processor (!) has 11 pins on a side, and it appears to be a 32u4. Note the 6 pin connector (ICSP?) as well.

Do you still have the spare repaired board? I would be interested

I have same problem. Did you find a solution?

Not yet but think it will be fixed with a new board or repairs to the existing board. Engineroom is my cousin and did a great job diagnosing this and has the capability to fix if necessary

OK, and when you say board. It is the Arduino Leonardo Print that is in Port side electricity chamber? As in this picture: And not the actual remote?
If googling these boards, they dont seem that expensive, but there are probably many versions. Does Engine room know what exact one it is to buy for replacement?
Quite tricky error. I had my boat at fixed power all winter as well, and when in the water, same issue as you .

There are a few issues found with that lighting board (not the main board)
1) There is a six conductor wire going to a five pin connector on that lighting board. It appears the connection on the far right is broken or shorted. This appears to be the power line.
2) On the board in the boat currently, the voltage at the circled red area appears to be 5V. The fuse, however (T750) is open (checked with all plugs out). My guess is that the fuse blew when the power line shorted. Was able to get the original fuse, but will have to use the extra conductor to bypass that power line. My thought is to rig up the fuse temporarily with some alligator clips to make sure it works before soldering it back.
3) On another board, the fuse is OK, however, that voltage is zero. Capacitors check out, however, when powering up with 12V, 12V, not 5V appears. Replacing the voltage regulator didn't help; it appears the two smaller devices (in yellow) have different characteristics. Doing a search on "Why would there be diodes to ground in and LM7805 circuit?" (The LM7805 is a standard 5V regulator, not necessarily the one you see in the picture), a few answers popup; https://forum.arduino.cc/t/using-diodes-in-lm7805-design-circuits/921152 is one of them, but the canonical answer is probably here: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/beginners/lm7805-backfeed-protection/ ... which shows the datasheet https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm7800.pdf. The upper yellow circled widget seems to be shorted, which is a usual failure mode for a diode, but it isn't clear, without a wiring diagram, what the replacement might be.

It is unclear how that ribbon cable is run; if it runs into the bilge, and it got chafed and/or wet, it might have shorted, causing the fuse to blow, and/or other components to break.
My thought is that the T750 fuse should have been a replaceable one, but it isn't clear what the design specs needed to be for the fuse to blow quickly.

Thanks.
Do you think this boardis the same model/type as the one in my picture?
Do you ahve the actual model number of it, if ordering a new? They seem to be below 50€ cost.

If they are below 50 Euros, replacement would be best. Didn't realize that they were that cheap. Looks to be the same; there might be a part number someplace.
If the fuse blew, you might want to check to see if the ribbon cable conductors (there are five in the setup we were working on) has continuity, and isn't shorted to anything. Otherwise, you might plug in the new board and blow that board. Use of a ribbon cable in that environment doesn't see to be ideal in that environment, but there may have been other considerations.

Sorry, I think im mistaking. Just thought i saw several of these boards in my firset search, but can't find them again, so must have concluded wrong. Hanse Yacht does not have them, and reconmend to buy new, which is 450+295 € as also the remote needs to be replaced.
If anyone knows where to buy the PCB print (ABL Sursum SLS F ) Then please share.

Maybe this is a dumb question but why do we even have these boards? It’s just lights, right? Seems like it’s way overcomplicated. I guess it’s just for the dimming/scenario features. That’s all well and good as long as it doesn’t fail. $500 seems like a lot of money for a light switch - and I have three of these boards.
