Hi all
I just bought a 2021 Hanse 418.
There is no openings in both sides of the hand rails.
Anybody made that ? I have also asked Hanse if they have any original parts for changing.

Thanks

//Mikkel

Hi Mikkel
On the 415, these were factory options so would think they were too on the 418. They are available from Boatoon but are called ‘Gates’.
On the 415, Hanse put in all backing plates for any extras you might order as I guess that is simpler, so hopefully you already have the backing plates
All the best
Paul

Hi Paul
Just orderes the gate stanchions + fitting from Boatonn.
Do you know if to's difficult to get "under the deck" to secure the foot for the stanchion ?

Thx.

Hi Mikell
I don’t know, as we ordered Night Train with the side gates. But from my understanding Hanse use a standard mould that includes for all extras. One of the legs will fit over the current stanchion support, the backing plate and recess for the other leg should already be there. So hopefully you don’t need to get under the deck at all.
Good luck
Paul

Hi, not very clear on this phot, but there are four shallow recesses in the deck molding for the gate legs. this photo, but there are four shallow recesses in the deck molding for the gate legs.

Yes - I can see these. Only wondering if I needed to put a nut on the buttom. Or it's just enough to drill/screw into the prepared prework for the stanchions. Thanks a lot - really appriciated.

Hi, I would see if you can find the backing plate drawing. If the plate is where you need it, you could drill through it and ‘tap’ or form a thread in it to correspond with the threads on the attachment studs.
Then it is simple to screw the studs down and slot the the gates over the studs. No need for a nut if the backing plate has been threaded, it acts as the nut.
All the best

If you take off one of the stanchions you will get a better idea of how it goes together!

Hi Paul.
Sorry to bother you again. Tried to get in contact with Hanse, to see if there was any drawings of the installed backplates. So I know before drill a hole in the glasfiber to see what's below ? :-).
Do you have any drawings ?

Thanks in advance

Hi this is what we got in our owners manual, they weren't very good quality to start with, so I hope you can read them.

Just to confirm, there are no nuts on the studs for the stanchions or gates.  They screw into the alloy plates in the deck.  You will need to get these drilled and threaded appropriately.
You can see the pushpit and their supporting plates from the void behind the aft cabin which might help.

Mikkel,

I designed and had made up the side steps for Sea Rambler - very pleased with them.
