I BELIEVE THE NETWORK IS A SIMNET NETWORK AND NOT NMEA 2000.
CAN SOMEONE CONFIRM PLEASE

Simnet and NMEA2000 use the same data protocols. The only difference is the connectors. Simnet uses a proprietary 5 pin plug and socket, whereas NMEA2000 uses a micro-C with a threaded collar. My 588 is all Simnet (B&G), but there are still a few micro-C connections on some units.

Not sure I've found any actual devices with SIMNET connectors - even the B&G ones have the standard Micro-C connections, than you then tie into the SIMNET distribution hubs with a cable that has the micro-c on one end and simnet on the other.

The protocol is all N2K.  SIMNET is just basically the physical connectors.  I will offer that the SIMNET connectors are easier to snake through small holes and the distribution "hubs" are nicer than stringing along a bunch of micro-c tees...
