Hello everyone,
I'm due to receive a brand new Hanse 315 in June.
Some of my friends have warned me about problems when receiving new boats.
According to them, the first three years are the most difficult with a new boat, which seems to me to be an exaggeration.
What's your experience?
Thanks in advance,
Kind regards
Chantal

I would have it thoroughly surveyed by a professional - preferably one experienced with Hanses - before you accept the vessel.  While the cost might seem high it could save a lot of money and hassle in the longer term.  The cost will still be less than many of the electronic gadgets we 'must' have and should buy you some peace of mind, particularly if the surveyor spots something not quite right.  On one boat bought for my Association  (not a Hanse, I'm happy to say) it was found that while the shower pump was ticked 'functional' on the manufacturers handover list, it was unfortunately pumping from sea into the boat....

It'll only be after your first season that you'll have a clearer idea of what needs to be altered to suit your type of sailing and usage.  Good luck!

I would not be concerned getting a new boat. I saw the Hanse quality assurance in detail and it is highly unlikely that you will experience a major deficiency. All minor ones will pop up during the first weeks of using the boat. Here your good and trusted dealer you bought the boat from will be essential in fixing the the small things.
If you want, I have an exhaustive check list in excel format for the handover, unfortunately in English. Just pm me.
A surveyor is in my opinion only necessary for a one-off or a hand built boat from a smaller yard-
Bon voyage, une bonne decision choisir une Hanse

Well, the boat I mentioned was a Halberg Rassy! As always, it’s Caveat Emptor.
