Ever inspected  the underside of your boom?  I did.  The fixing of the kickstrap was broken. it could brake off and destroy the profile of the boom. This summer i met an other H400 - with the same problem.  Sparcraft is aware of the problem, the new one is cast, twice as thick, and has six rivets in stead of four.  Sorry no picture, can't make it that smallSmile  Buy a new one to be sure, it is not diffecult to change!

Yes, changed ours about 4-5yrs ago. FYI if you have the early style Sparcraft bails for securing blocks to the boom, these also need swapping out (or monitoring in the meantime).

The old ones were essentially just a “V” shape and could pull out under load given time (the V shape could narrow under load). The new ones have the top of the V closed and prevent the ends of the bail closing and coming out.
